This is only my opinion, but here goes.  Making it seem as if the video and lyrics referred only to Barbarella and The Man Who Fell to Earth is a writing trick Scott may have used to camouflage the true meaning.

I love the imagery in the video where Scott is alone in a hotel room with all the milk he needs and sacks of cash but is still miserable.  Finding the space ship and going back home could be an attempt to get back to the life he had before becoming an addict or to move on to something new and positive.  I also think the "pain I've given with my name" could refer to how his problems affected his wife, who took his name.

Finally, did anyone else notice how the casino sign focused on a portion that read "I SIN"?

I absolutely love this song and album and can relate to way too much of it.

Man, I have to agree with all the great things everybody has said about this song. Up until the most recent months I have ignored SW solo most of the time, simply because every time I go to throw it on I give in and play STP instead. However, recently I have been on a big SW kick... man both of those albums are completely badass.

I never felt enough once the “Naked Sunday” joined the party. It used to bring some unforgettable memories for me.
