Yes, in my opinion, the album has a few bad songs as well as plenty of mediocre songs as well. I am pretty disappointed, I should have lowered all hopes as soon as I heard Bagman and Huckleberry Crumble. I just assumed they grow on me or those were the worst songs, or part of some magical bigger picture. HC is a damn Aerosmith rip, written by STP (to me) and Bagman is just awful. Dare if you Dare is so promising but the chorus is just too long and drawn out. Take a Load Off and Between the Lines are the most STP tunes on the album, and I love Maver. Maybe this will all grow on me, none of the other albums ever had to however. It just feels like a "mess" when I listen. They seem to aimlessly wander from track to track, mimicking or trying to please (?). I don't know where they were going with this as a whole. It sucks Scott chose not to be with the band as they wrote, and I understand Dean and Robert wanting to self-produce, but I believe someone else wouldn't have let a couple of these tracks end up on the album. Everyone enjoy. This is just in MY ears and mind, after about 12 listens. I'm sure many more will follow and maybe it'll change, I can't help but feel disappointed though I am still quite happy to actually have a new album. Just doesn't feel like STP through and through to me.
