Great to see STP getting their due!!!

Pretty good list overall, though I like anyone else have my quibbles with it. Maybe it's just me, but Led Zep getting a 48 for live performance while Queen only gets 45 and The Who gets 44??? To me, Robert Plant often sounds like a screeching cat live (much better on disc) while Queen and The Who are two of the greatest live acts ever.

AC/DC seems unusually low at 26, considering how popular they remain on rock radio.

The Random Play is just a personal like/dislike column of the writers. Does the average rock listener really want to listen to a Bob Marley song (47) more than U2 (36), the Rolling Stones (28) or Bon Jovi (24)  Kinda the opposite of what popular opinion is.

That's not the issue - it's just a refreshing change to see a list based on decent criteria that has been compiled without the usual bland mitherings & bias. Of course it's not perfect but it's a start.

Definitely a refreshing changeup from your typical "best of" list, but I believe Blue Oyster Cult should be on that list. The fact that they were omitted but Black Eyed Peas is included is apalling.

these lists are always arbitrary and 100% bullshit. somebody felt like making a list. that's it.

It's nice to see STP getting some props.. we all know they deserve more credit than they get.. but the list is meaningless besides that.

.........all rated below STP? After the top 3 it seems like the guy just randomly selected the rest. I'd be confident in saying that every band in my little list there outrates STP in almost every category that this top 100 is based on.

Bob Marley, The Police, U2, Van Halen, the Eagles and the Doors have no business near the top 10 rock bands.

Top lists usually turn out to be a bad idea because it comes off as an attempt in telling people who is the best, due to "statistics" and whatnot. You can't put that shit in a statistic, because different people will always feel different ways!

Still it's an interesting concept, and cool that they placed so high up.

I dont think STP will be any bigger than they are now .. they had there oppotunity to be HUGE, i guess you can say, but most of the time when there were peaking they couldnt tour and most of the news was about Scotts drugs problems .. and the music went by the waste side as the music was alomost 3rd on the list when folks tlak baout them.  I just think there window has closed but who knows what the future will hold.

STP would've still gone down in popularity, look at Pearl Jam, no real band problems besides fighting Ticketmaster and they still went down in popularity.  No. 4 and SLDD just might have sold a little better without the 1997-1999 hiatus though.
