I was thinking of starting a similar topic to this one actually.

I think Still Remains and Silvergun Superman both could have made excellent singles. Sin could have been a minor radio hit. Glide would have been a much better choice than No Way Out.

I agree with "Still Remains" but I'm not convinced about the others.

For me, the obvious sure-fire hit is "You Can't Drive Me Away". A certainty...and our boys didn't even release it...go figure!

tumble in the rough ;)
Look I just want to go out sometime you know.  Like normal people, spend time together and enjoy each other's company. Like best friends.  Like lovers that care.  Who actually respect the relationship you know?"

I mentioned this in another thread, Art School Girl would have been viewed as a novelty song. Good for one hit wonders. Bad for a band with two multi platinum albums. As much as I enjoy the song, it would be a terrible pick for a single.

It's hard to pick one of their non-singles that would have crossover appeal. If it came down to it, I would have to go with Still Remains.
Dedicated. Disgusting. Disturbing.

Heaven and Hotrods!! ;D I LOVE that song!

I would've said that too, but the production on it wasn't very good which doesn't make for good radio. Actually, I think this of much of the No. 4 album (which ironically might be my favorite album). All you have to do is listen to D&B and then Down (or H&H for that matter) back to back and you'll hear the awful, muffled recording of No. 4.

I'd love to hear No. 4 remastered without the quilt over the mics....

As much as I like "still remains"....i don't know where it would fit in on the radio....it's not really rock or pop....its just a really beautiful yet trippy song....I think "You can't drive me away" would have been a huge radio hit...

That's why it would have been a hit I think. It's not really defined to a certain genre. That's how most hit songs gain a crossover appeal.

i'm not so sure about still remains or most of the others.  Also, i believe Atlanta is one of their more overrated songs, not underrated.  I'm not a huge Doors fan (they're ok to me) or a huge Sound of Music's My Favorite Things fan which is what this song basically combines.  This is a tough question because basically they've picked the best singles already for the most part.  Some possibilities are Dead and Bloated, Unglued, Seven Caged Tigers, Heaven and Hot Rods, I Got You (not a huge fan of the song, but it would be a catchy radio thing), Dumb Love, Coma, and I don't know the rest of Shangri well enough to pick any more from that.

Unglued wasn't a radio single? I hear it on the radio often here in San Diego. Was it a promo release or something.
