this is going to sound harsh but - nirvana wouldn't be held to such a high standard if cobain was still alive. it takes more to carry on in the music business than to become the "beloved" martyr.

That's debatable. I'm curious what would have happened though. There wouldn't have been a Foo Fighters. I think that if he were still alive, they would have split at one point, then got back together for a HUGE reunion.

But back to your original point, I think he still would have been held in a high regard as the man who ushered in the era of grunge. You can't that away from him and his band. I'm curious where they would have gone musically.
Dedicated. Disgusting. Disturbing.

I'm just sittin' on this merry-go-round, and the music is too loud..

not taking away anything from nirvana but his suicide helped solidify their place in music history. i think it's great that stp may be able to do the same thing without anyone dying! :)

Sadly, anyone who passes on at such a young age helps solidify their place in history. (Morrison, Joplin, Hendrix, etc)

I miss Alice in Chains. What a talented group they were. Yeah, I know there's something called Alice in Chains touring with some other lead singer, but that's not real Alice in Chains. Sorry if there are fans of that lead singer they have now, but he does no justice to any of the AiC classic songs.
i dont miss them

I give a fuck the critics, positive or negative...
Everybody heated STP now they love them because they pay!
In a few months who wrote that will be saying bullshits about the band and more probably about Scott!! That's how the press works!! It sucks!!

I think this is probably mostly a case of jumping on the bandwagon. STP's reunion tour got better response than expected and so now critics need to make sure they give a shit just for the street creds of it. I'm glad to see the band get props but it was hip in the 90s to hate them and it's hip in the 2000s to like them. That's all that's going on here.

It's just nice to read stories on a critic who finally says something positive about STP.

It is nice. But I find the hypocrisy hilarious. It's just like how Rolling Stone gives shit reviews all the time but then because the record label paid them for a story they'll suck up to the band in articles and interviews - often in the same issue they've slagged off the record as shit.

It's about time the critics start giving these guys some love. I get so tired of hearing them called Pearl Jam ripoffs.

Yeah, they are really getting some positive press. All the major music rags are really high on their Reunion. If they record a new album it will be interesting to see how the critics receive it.

I've always said critics had their mouths full of shit when speaking of STP.

I remember all the articles I read about them during their start, and every article was the same bullshit comparisons and slanders over and over simply with re-adjusted words.
