I find it kind of hard to believe they'd have an online listening party for an album that's coming out in 2 months. It's pretty much a guarantee it would ripped and pirated. Maybe they'll just stream a couple new songs and then a bunch of hits?

I tend to agree, although it could be argued that their new business model for album sales is relying almost purely on the pre-orders (which is a can't lose model because you build inventory to match orders) and then selling some inventory at shows.

I don't see why it's so hard for their management to just give a date and time for when this will actually happen. I wonder if we were even supposed to find this link? I don't recall any mention of this on social media, so maybe their management put the page up early thinking no one would find it?

It was linked on their main / splash page when I posted it here. Maybe someone activated it too early. What I’m wondering about is this listening party aspect of the page. What does that mean in 2019? “Listening party” for me means that a band gathers with a number of people in a certain place before the actual release of the album and plays it in its entirety for the group, after which discussion happens, praise is given and an album is launched. I have a hard time believing this chat on Wednesday is going to be a digital version of what I just described.

I think it's going to be them playing snippets of the new songs with a live chat happening at the same time.

Obviously they intend to play some music via Spotify and have us chat with the band while listening to it. The real question is whether they are going to play the whole album, or just snippets, or maybe just one or two new songs along with a playlist the band has selected.

My guess is the last option. Maybe a couple songs off the new album, some old STP songs that fit the vibe of the album/tour, and maybe some songs from other artists that the band was inspired by.
