About a month or so ago, I was reading up on Stone Temple Pilots. I usually tend to read up on my favourite bands from time to time to get to know them a little more. As I was reading and look around, some sites claimed that there was a former member to Stone Temple Pilots. I forget the name, but it has kept me wondering ever since.

Was there a fifth member to the Stone Temple Pilots? If there was, I assume that it was during the Mighty Joe Young days instead of their time in the mainstream spotlight. Any answers and details would be appreciated.

They've often referred to producer Brenden O'Brien as the fifth member, but there's never been an actual fifth member.

I think this may be the guitarst that was in the band before Dean (during the MJY days).........but his name escapes me right now.  He might have been the extra guitarst they had for the MTV unplugged show.

Yeah, Scott took one of his friends out to California to get famous back in the late 80's. He played guitar. Scott met Robert cause they (Scott and Robert) were dating the same chick. This guy was in the band for a bit after they had gotten Kretz but since he sucked and Dean was awesome, Robert called Dean to come to Cali and be their guitarist

Well , there was Shawn Tubbs and the percusioniste, who played in the band during the sessions of MTV unplugged

and also , there was an pianist , i dont know his name, i'm sure he isn't brendan...
