I don't think they were rumors..  I remember reading a few articles about them.  I'm just saying they probably never recorded them.

I think they were just fucking with us.  Like Astronaut School...the only band that would ever name a song that would be radiohead.
Oh yeah, that looks much sexier on you.

That has to be "positive cell regeneration."

Yeah I always thought the same thing.  I remember hearing about Stone Temple Pilots changing song titles and lyrics before Shangri-LA DEE DA was released.  I think Laser Vaginal Rejuvination evolved into Regeneration.

Both work equally awkwardly lyrically

I was thinking that they were just screwing with us and changed the words a bit.

List Of Unreleased/non-album Original Tracks
« Reply #25 on: October 24, 2003, 05:58:07 PM »
I'd like to know if my list of unreleased and non-album tracks (written in full or in part by Stone Temple Pilots or its members) is correct:

Stone Temple Pilots - All In The Suit That You Wear (from greatest hits LP)
Velvet Revolver - Set Me Free (from Hulk soundtrack)
Velvet Revolver - Slither (?live audience recording?)
Talk Show - Saturday (live audience recording, but just an early arrangement of Stone Temple Pilots's "Glide")
Stone Temple Pilots - Dirty Dog (MJY demo)
Stone Temple Pilots - Fast As I Can (MJY demo)
Stone Temple Pilots - Love Machine (MJY demo)
Stone Temple Pilots - Old Dixie (MJY demo)
Stone Temple Pilots - Only Dying (MJY demo)
Stone Temple Pilots - Scary Area (MJY demo)
Stone Temple Pilots - Spanish Flies (MJY demo)
Scott Weiland - But Not Tonight (from Not Another Teen Movie soundtrack, ?Depeche Mode cover?)
Scott Weiland - Lazy Divey (from 12 Bar Blues 14-track promo, ?quality?)
Scott Weiland - Chateau Mars (from 12 Bar Blues 14-track promo, ?terrible solo-acoustic recording?)
Scott Weiland - Follow Me (unreleased, ?clip only?)

Okay, now for some more specific questions....

>>>Did any members of Stone Temple Pilots write or co-write guest appearance songs with other artists?

>>>Is "But Not Tonight" a Weiland original or a cover song?

>>>Where can I get a copy of "Lazy Divey"?

>>>Is the scratchy solo-acoustic version of "Chateau Mars" the same track from the 12 Bar Blues promo?

>>>Is the 1-minute clip of "Follow Me" the only version available to fans?

Thanks to any who can help!

You've asked a lot of questions here so I'll just add when I have time, and I'm sure others will help as well.

"But Not Tonight" is a Depeche Mode song, written by DM's Martin Gore.

The following is taken from the BelowEmpty FAQ page...

Q: What are the titles of all known unreleased Stone Temple Pilots songs?

A: -Only Dying. (1993). Originally a Mighty Joe Young demo song, the band rerecorded it for the The Crow soundtrack. When lead actor Brendan Lee died, the band decided to replace their soundtrack contribution with a song they recorded already for their second album, called Big Empty.

-Watchin' You. (1993). Recorded in late 1993 for the 'KISS My Ass' Kiss Tribute Album, which was eventually released in june 1994, with a completely different track/artist list than the original concept. It is unclear if Stone Temple Pilots was at some point scheduled to contribute 'Watchin' You' to this compilation cd, but it seems very likely since Billboard reported that the band had been working on a recording.

-You Can't Drive Me Away. (2000). Outtake of the No.4 sessions, which was to end up on a Greatest Hits album that was never released. It was performed live once and there is a clip of that available.

-The Way She Moves. (2000). Outtake of the No.4 sessions, which was to end up on a Greatest Hits album that was never released.

-Heed The Water Whisperer. (2000). Outtake of the No.4 sessions, which was to end up on a Greatest Hits album that was never released.

-About A Fool. (2001). Outtake of the Shangri-LA DEE DA sessions.

-Samba Nova. (2001). Outtake of the Shangri-LA DEE DA sessions.

-All In The Suits That You Wear. (2002). This song was recorded in March 2002 right before the band went on tour. There was some talk about a possible soundtrack release, but the song was never used for anything yet. It's expected to end up on the next Stone Temple Pilots album.

Thanks a bunch; I would certainly appreciate more info like that.

BelowEmpty.com lists Crystal Method feat. Scott Weiland "Murder" as being partially written by Weiland himself.  Are any other guest appearances written by Stone Temple Pilots members?  What about the Wondergirls and Big Blue Missile songs?
