The last new STP single you heard on radio?
« on: January 20, 2020, 10:46:21 PM »
Thinking back on it, I don't think I've ever heard any SLDD singles on radio. The last "new" single I recall hearing on radio was Between the Lines. We're talking about terrestrial radio here.

Out of Time got a ton of airplay on Live 105 (RIP) back in 2013. Don't think I ever heard Black Heart or anything with Jeff on radio, so that would be the last I am aware of.

Aside from plugging the respective release dates, I can’t remember any post-reunion singles getting significant airplay. And even today, STP gets plenty of radio play, but it’s always the early stuff.
STP: 07.31.00 | 08.04.01 | 10.24.01 | 04.23.02 | 10.11.02 | 05.31.08 | 09.05.10
SW: 11.30.11 | 03.12.13 | 08.29.14 | 03.10.15
VR: 05.28.04 | 05.18.07 || AoA: 02.01.07
CheSTP: 09.06.13 | 04.25.15 | 09.20.15 || JeffTP: 07.28.18 | 09.15.19

This is true too. If it isn't off of Core or Purple they don't play it. One in a blue moon you'll here Trippin', but that's it. Even Sour Girl doesn't get airplay and that was "the rock song of the Summer" back in '00.....

A friend of mine works in media analytics. I've asked him "if a radio station is slotted to play an STP song, why can't they play ANY STP song? Why does it always have to be selected from a few early singles?" and he basically chalked it up to "those are the songs people know. a new single from that same band is equal to a new song from a new band and the audience is more likely to change the station rather than stick around to listen." I hated that answer, but I suppose it makes sense with stations' fear of losing listeners and where ratings are probably more important than ever.

I heard Days of the Week ONCE a few weeks prior to the release of SLDD. I remember where I was driving too! I guess that can happen when you hear a song on the radio only one time LOL.

If memory serves me correctly, Hollywood Bitch was on the list of songs on the DO NOT PLAY list following the attacks on 9/11.
Dedicated. Disgusting. Disturbing.

I'm just sittin' on this merry-go-round, and the music is too loud..

Yep, it was due to the "Blow up the Bitch" line if I recall correctly?

"Blow up the bitch with the firecracker smile" --> what a swagalicious line!
