I thought he was German/Irish. I DO know he loves him some Fighting Irish!!

Kline is the Americanized version of Klein (German, meaning small). SO, that would make sense.

It is also means the same thing in Dutch. But yeah, I do remember reading something about his ancestry being German/Irish like someone commented.
