Stone Temple Pilots (2010) / Re: Cinnamon single released on radio
« on: September 02, 2010, 07:06:42 AM »
safe to say this album wont have another hit? that makes me very sad...

I think Cinnamon will have a bigger impact on the radio than Between The Lines did.

oh for sure. good call. Its got enough originality to make it the stand out single of the record.. If they even release another one after Cinnamon.

The melodic songs on the record overpower the noise rock-and-rollers, but songs like this one, Fast as I Can, and Huckleberry really shine. Especially Bagman.. Totally down with it.

On Tour / Re: Will they release a full live album from this tour?
« on: August 31, 2010, 07:23:58 PM »
I was just curious if anybody heard any plans to release something from this tour. It really makes no sense to me why they wouldnt, and why they have never had a live release.

You can find live clips on the second disc of Thank You's Deluxe Edition.. but the full tour dvd,, id say doubtful, to be honest.. But who knows, they could do anything.. I just cant really see it happening.. If Cinnamon does good as a single, I think work on another album could conjure up..

Its a nice sunshiney 60s style pop song. Think back to Art School Girl and Days of the Week.. Its gonna be the most psych sounding single since Days.. I love it. One of the highlights of the new record.

Now the question remains, would you rather date the Art School Girl or the one from Cinnamon?

I always figured Art School Girl was about a series of short, failed relationships. Cinnamon is about that feeling of absolute joy when you truly fall in love (though it the relationship does finally end.) So I'd go with Cinnamon.

Off Topic: roomonfire125. Ummm... What's up with you using my avatar? lol

thats a really good way to look at those songs... makes sense to not be directly about one lady.
well.. about that avatar. hahaha.. idk, i like the atlantic symbol on the vinyl if thats a good enough excuse.

Yeah. I always though of the girlfriend who goes to art school and the girl who goes to parties as different characters. I don't know if that's weird or what.

And I don't know if this happens to anyone else or if it's just me, but I always think of my old high school sweetheart when I hear Cinnamon. I know it's really cheesy... But it reminds me of her of every time. Maybe that's why I would rather date Cinnamon's girl, because she represents the only girl I've been in love with this far in my life?

And yeah. I just hadn't realized that when you upload an Avi in the new forum it becomes available to everyone. So it was a little jarring seeing and avatar I uploaded on a post I didn't write lol

Yeah, I hear that. Youre not sailing the seas of cheese on that one man. Thats the best way to look at that song.. Ive never gotten that feeling from it.. Everything from the jangled guitars to his high pitched wonderful way of innocent, in-love spin on it, the uptempo.. All of it. Now I can hear that and remember my ole schoolday sweetthang. haha

And about the Art School Girl, yes. Just the cliche gypsy hippie woman who does nothing but throw her mind away getting all fucked up and careless at Warhol style parties.

But yeah, hahahh. I can see how that would be confusing. But I uploaded my own finally,, i kinda wanted a more band oriented one anyway. The flower schpeal and whatnot..

On Tour / Re: Reception of the New Songs Live

Yeah, Cinnamon got a good reaction when he introduced it as the new single. And Detroit really likes Huckleberry..

I think there will still be 2 or 3 other songs they try to get into the live set before #6 Touring completes.

Hazy Daze and Peacoat - possibly 1st Kiss on Mars.

Very good point. I think the same.. FKOM seems doubtful to me for the keys in the song. Hazy Daze and Peacoat definitely stand chances of peeking into the sets.. I seen theyve played Dare if You Dare a few times, but havent seen a vid.. I think Cinnamon, Between the Lines, and Hickory stay..
Its a damn bummer they gave Days of the Week the treatment they did.. He probably couldnt do that song these days.

No.4 / Re: Church on tuesday, Heaven & hot rods, etc

Don't hate me...   :P

I've seen H&H - October 11, 2001 in Cleveland, OH.
(Same day I had the pleasure of seeing "Bi-Polar Bear")

What a great tour to catch them on. Seeing Bi Polar Bear,, id shit myself.. I got the pleasure to see them do a very good version of it toward the beginning of their Detroit show a few days ago.. Scotts range is getting back to his stp standards quick after losing his velvet revolver style.. I wouldnt be surprised to see Church on Tuesday or Pruno come back into sets within a year or so..
Luckylucky lady to have seen BPB though.. Kudos for that.

Song Discussion / Re: First Kiss On Mars

I'm liking this song the more I listen to the preview. When they play it live, they should play it before or after I Got You.

As much of a beautiful thing that would be, but i doubt either of those songs will see much time in their sets.. Specially I Got You... But that is a good thought right there.

I Got You is just wishful thinking, but I think there's a good chance they'll add FKOM to their set. Hopefully before they add some shows in northern California....

Yeah, but who knows really, with the tenor he has right now. I seen him just the other day in Detroit and he rocked Cinnamon, Dancing Days, Still Remains. All them.. The only thing that makes me doubt FKOM is the layering, especially the use of keys in that song.. yknow? but hey, at the rate theyre heading in, who knows whatll happen when they come back for another american tour in '11.
another old gem id love to see them play live that would fit with the mood of the songs you just mentioned, is Black Again.. SLDD is my favorite record and in the two times ive seen them, ive only heard Hollywood Bitch.. But again, that might be just as farfetched as I Got You.

Song Discussion / Re: Maver live please
« on: August 31, 2010, 12:05:20 AM »
i agree stp92 maver is my favorite vocal performance on the record from scott. and yes i love all the new songs on the album, actually call me crazy but i love the new album way more than core it just has so many sides to it. i think its funny to how Dean says playin new songs is the worse nightmare to the fans cause for me id actually rather hear all the new ones more than the old ones live. anyone else feel the same?

absolutely. Maver's close to having the best vocal performance on that record, next to First Kiss on Mars and Samba Nova.. and i agree with the call on the new one vs. core. sure core has its wonders, thinkin Piece of Pie and Crackerman,,, whatnot. But yeah, Id rather hear some of those new ones, at least more than Huckleberry, Hickory, and Between the Lines.. I liked seeing Bagman and Cinnamon... But they could really kill it live playing songs like Hazy Daze and Fast as I Can.. He's getting his range back after the shakey tour of theirs earlier this year.

Most definitely the girl from Cinnamon.. I think its about Mary, when they split up.. He still misses her and he knows it. Art School Girl was just a raunchy hippie.. Forget all that.

Maver would be wonderful live.. But i agree itd be awhile.. The songs they have in rotation off the new album live right now they seem pretty comfy with.. They dropped Bagman for Cinnamon which is a good move, in my opinion.. But Maver's possible.. More possible than First Kiss on Mars or Peacoat, yknow? Maybe sometime next year.. On the Still Remains topic though, I got to see them play it in Detroit two nights ago.. Scotts back on top with his range. They're having fun.. Theyll start digging deeper and deeper into the repotoire if they keep at the pace they're going.
