Wow an estimated 13,000 - 15,000 sales for the first week?

Chalk it up as another win (and ego boost) for Mr. Scott Weiland.

If he's even sober enough at the time to read the article.

Give it up, Scott is not coming back. Dean likened the odds of this happening to winning the lottery. It's an impossibility at this point.

And another win? I haven't seen Mr. Weiland winning much of anything lately.

In 3 weeks it will be in the $.99 Walmart bin

You mean right beside the self -titled album?
Well, there is some good news for anyone who hates the EP. I heard Scott Weiland and the WingNuts will be releasing a 30-song 12-song album, a “real rocker,” before the end of this year.

And hey, if it's anything like Scott's Christmas album, you guys are in for a real treat.

"A real rocker". I hope this is true. I'll wait and see. I really don't expect to see anything from Scott until well into 2014 at the earliest.

And I hope its not a fucking Easter album.

Scott's next full solo album will not sell that many copies in its first week. He couldn't manage that 5 years ago with 2 versions of the album out on the same day, let alone now. It's not the Weiland name that sells albums.

Hey, what are you talking about? Being fired from a band he fronted for 20 years, and performing with an amateur band is TOTALLY winning!

(Look, I like Weiland as much as the next guy, but it's time to smell the roses. Weiland's era in STP is over. It's done. The original lineup is not getting back together anytime soon).

Regardless of Chester and some of these musicians claiming the album is dead, it works better as a marketing tool than an EP or single.  An album is just far more of a statement, and while sales are down across the board I haven't seen the EP release strategy really work for anybody.  You'd need a massive hit to move any copies.

This EP was just a legal strategy IMO.  I'm pretty sure the reasons they rushed it out, and started touring right away were heavily influenced by the lawsuitLikely to show earning potential (among other things) as "STP" without Scott.  This would provide them with ticket and album/EP sales figures for their case.

OK. Allow me to explain...
Talk Show success = Zero
Army of Anyone success = minimal

And though it remains to be seen long term...
STP w/ Chester = not exactly mind blowing numbers.

So yeah, once again it proves that they don't have the same 'prestige' (for lack of a better word) without him.

So yeah...it's another point for Scott, regardless of whether or not he's in a glorified bar band right now.

I used to care about album sales, but I really could care less nowadays. They just don't seem to matter...High Rise may sell around 15k in its first week, but it'll probably still be in the top 10. It's not like it's going to be at number 50 or number 100 or something...this isn't "Happy" In Galoshes here. If the music's good (which I think it is) and CheSTP can tour and make new music, that's all that matters.

EDIT: Also, Out of Time has already been a solid hit, and I can see Tomorrow and Same On The Inside being even bigger
My STP shows: 8/10/2008, 7/19/2009, 10/10/2009, 5/22/2010, 4/26/2011, 4/24/2015   Weiland solo: 1/29/2009, 11/29/2012, 3/13/2015    VR: 8/5/2007

Granted, VR was 10 years ago, but with a big name band (STP) & big name singer (Chester) a fraction of Velvet Revolver's first week success should be looked at as disappointing, even when you factor in the state of music sales.

And for the record...I bought the EP and really enjoy it.

I should point out that when Metallica put out an EP last year (without changing their frontman) to follow up the 2 million selling Death Magnetic, it sold 36,000 copies in week one, and landed at no. 29 on the billboard album chart.

EPs do not sell anymore, the band would not be expecting it to shift a lot of copies.

Wha? Metallica released an EP last year?

Dont get t/Obrien comments when it comes to sales, Shangri didn't sell big and that wad when people still bought CDs. Maybe if t/EP was cheaper? $7, plus tax for 5 songs seems high, i wouldnt have bought either if I wasnt a fan, not crazy about t/artwork either.

I also believe it's not an EP thing. I think it's an artist/band thing.

Wha? Metallica released an EP last year?

December 2011 actually. Beyond Magnetic. Four tracks from the Death Magnetic sessions that they played at the 30th Anniversary shows in San Francisco. Solid. Rebel of Babylon is a great track.
Dedicated. Disgusting. Disturbing.

I'm just sittin' on this merry-go-round, and the music is too loud..
