In my opinion this song is better than all three. And I'm a pretty big fan of Huckleberry and Hickory, especially when self titled came out

Slow down there speed racer!

I'm not gonna say it's better than any STP song, but it's certainly better than Out of Time. It's not in that same vein of angsty, whiny bullshit, which is what I was fearing the rest of the EP would sound like. Chester sounds really good here. Definitely channeling Scott a bit, but in a good way.

Also, for better or worse, this is by far the most poppy song the DeLeos have ever written. The songwriting is noticeably different and, in my opinion,  more basic than anything we've ever heard from them. I'm not wild about the music here, but it's definitely not horrid. Just not what I'd expect from them, a little too bubblegum for my ear.

After 2 listens, I'd give it a 6.5/10, whereas I'd give Out of Time a 4.

It's definitely bubblegummy, I prefer their heavier tunes.

This may sound ridiculous, but at times I thought it sounded like an Oasis tune almost. Can't put my finger on it.

I got something equally ridiculous -  the song reminded me of Franz Ferdinand. It has that same style riff as Do You Want To. Obviously, vocally it's completely different. But the riffs from the two songs are very similar.
When STP had a cookout after filming the video for the Core single "Plush," Weiland made jerk chicken that was "spectacular," Dean raves.

Until this very moment, I've loved every single STP tune including Out of Time. However, this is fucking awful! It sounds like something that was leftover from Self Titled and at one point had potential, but went in an awful direction. Also, Chester clearly is trying to duplicate Scott Weiland here. I give it a D+ by normal band standards, which is a F by STP standards.

As much as i hate to say it, i actually like a lot the song. Sure it sounds like a self titled leftover but i still love it.

And the only thing that puzzles me and makes me scratch my head is... this song would be perfect for Scott to sing...it isnt even difficult in vocal-range...

Chester is doing a great job emulating Scott here, but i cant stop thinking how good it would be if Scott sung this.
Seems like you left me when you broke down

Unglued, I think that is what's bothering me about this tune. I just listened to it about five or four more times (ASG) and I definitely have a change in heart. I like what the Deleo's and Kretz did, but Chester seemed to try to be too much like Scott here. It bothers me because the whole time I'm thinking how much better it would be with Scott. I like Out of Time much better because that seemed to be progression with the new lineup and Chester did his own thing. This seems like a step back, as if they're trying to duplicate past sounds.

ShaneC, I got a Oasis feeling from this song too!

And Slither, who knows maybe I'm jumping the gun and will look back and think I was crazy for saying this song is better than Huckleberry, Hickory, and Days of the Week. But right now I definitely feel like it's better than those songs

It sounds like the next logical progression sonically from self-titled, but still new.  I'm a sucker for the poppy STP stuff, love Days of the Weeks and Cinnamon.  Liking it on the first couple of listens, Chester's vocals fit well.

The vibe of it reminds me of an old classic rock song, I just can't quite put my finger on it.  Especially the riff.

I feel its on par with DOTW, but better than both Hickory & Huckleberry.

I think I like OOT better. I'll have to listen 2 or 3 more times.

I like it better than either of those (Hickory/Huckleberry).  Melodically it reminds me of Take a Load Off/Cinnamon, which I LOVE.

I was thinking the same thing, man. Is that Liam Gallagher singing? This a bloody throw-away Oasis track? Scott would've done this track some justice. I know some are tired of hearing "Scott this, or Scott that" but it's true. Scott's the right choice for this one (but we all know what happened so I digress). Having said that, it's just a poor attempt to sound like Oasis. Just MY opinion. Don't have to agree with me, I'm sure radio will over-play this one too and it'll make it to number one for a week before the great fall off the charts... It is what it is. But, there's nothing classic here. Just a throw-away Oasis song.

Beats anything off of S/T except for maybe Fast As I Can, really love the verse riff. Poppiest song they've ever written? Not by a long shot, Cinnamon anyone? Great tune 8/10

For everyone mentioning Scott...has anyone actually heard him at the Utica Arts & Music Festival? I'm not trying to insult him because I idolized him growing up, but he doesn't sound like the old Scott anymore. Everyone is holding on to the Scott of the past, the Scott of the 90s and the "in his prime" Scott of 2008-2009 but is failing to admit how he is now. He can't sing the old STP songs anymore, let alone new music. He suffered a MAJOR vocal chord injury a few years back, and if you include the abuse he's done to himself with drugs and alcohol he's a shadow of his former self. He sings off key at some concerts, and he forgot some of the lyrics at that show (Interstate Love Song being the best example).

Despite being a Linkin Park fan; I'd love Scott to be involved with the band, but it's not going to happen. Everyone saying that Scott would do these songs justice is being dellusional and holding on to the old Scott. Sure, old Scott would've destroyed it on this track and owned it. But old Scott hasn't been around for a long time.

I'll probably get flack for saying this, but it needed to be said.

+1 feel the exact same way. I've come to terms with Scott not being the Scott we all want him to be, but some people can't let it go
