Listen to the new single here. Wayyyyyyyyyy better than Out of Time. Love the slide but of course, I wish Scott was singing.

I wouldn't say way better than OOT. There's more to sink your teeth into though.
Upon first listen...Out of Time vs Black Heart...I'll take OOT.
But I like this a lot too.

This is very "classic rock" sounding to me. Not a bad thing...just an observation.
And it definitely displays more Scott-like vocals. Chester is doing his best to channel Mr. Weiland, IMO.

Wow, I fuckin love it. So catchy...sounds like a classic STP track and of course, I could see Scott singing on this. Chester gets the job done perfectly though

EDIT: Just my opinion, but I like it more than I liked Out of Time the first time I heard it

Definitely more poppy than I expected. I really like it, though.

Very catchy.

It's definitely a grower too. Chorus IS catchy.
I don't know why but I get like a "Days of the Week" meets "Huckleberry Crumble" feel-good rock vibe

That's a great way to describe it. I felt a Huckleberry Crumble and Hickory Dichotomy vibe immediately

Well I can't listen to it at work, but I will say that Days of the Week, Huckleberry Crumble & Hickory Dichotomy are my three least favourite STP tracks.

They're still good though!  8)

I hated both Huckleberry Crumble & Hickory Dichotomy. This one is much better, IMO.

Well done. A different sound for them. Except for Chester's voice, this would be difficult for newer fans to I.D. them at first. Not a bad thing though.

In my opinion this song is better than all three. And I'm a pretty big fan of Huckleberry and Hickory, especially when self titled came out

Slow down there speed racer!

I'm not gonna say it's better than any STP song, but it's certainly better than Out of Time. It's not in that same vein of angsty, whiny bullshit, which is what I was fearing the rest of the EP would sound like. Chester sounds really good here. Definitely channeling Scott a bit, but in a good way.

Also, for better or worse, this is by far the most poppy song the DeLeos have ever written. The songwriting is noticeably different and, in my opinion,  more basic than anything we've ever heard from them. I'm not wild about the music here, but it's definitely not horrid. Just not what I'd expect from them, a little too bubblegum for my ear.

After 2 listens, I'd give it a 6.5/10, whereas I'd give Out of Time a 4.
When STP had a cookout after filming the video for the Core single "Plush," Weiland made jerk chicken that was "spectacular," Dean raves.

No wonder they didn't want to change their name and are not playing it live at their shows.  Keep playing Scott's songs guys, you'll be doing the crowd a favor.  Yikes.

It's definitely bubblegummy, I prefer their heavier tunes.

This may sound ridiculous, but at times I thought it sounded like an Oasis tune almost. Can't put my finger on it.

Haha, wow! You see the name Black Heart and your first thought is definitely something angstier than this.

I definitely dig this. OOT's one issue for me was that it was too much of a retread of Take A Load Off, but this doesn't sound like anything STP's done before... It still has the STP vibe, but you can't directly compare it to one STP song. That's the way it should be.
Grab the hate and drown it out...
