« on: September 08, 2013, 02:51:11 PM »
Any thoughts on this show from others who attended?  Chester made a few mistakes with his lyrics which is to be expected at this point. I was disappointed but not surprised that Richard Patrick didn't come out and do any army of anyone songs. Turnout to the show was pretty good I was quite surprised. I attended a meet and greet with the band and ill post pictures once I have them and get home from vacation next week.

Show was awesome! Will post full review when at my computer and not phone. Anyway, I did wanna get this out there awhile...

While the guy above me was hoping for AoA songs, I was not thinking about that, but was quite happy to have gotten this... RP joining the guys for Piece of Pie. Unfortunately I ran outta space on my phone before it was over.

Yep. Only difference was that Richard from Filter came on by surprise to sing Piece of Pie mid-song.

They also really improvised on Sex Type Thing, and did a few nice fills. But otherwise it was the same.

Do you remember what exactly Chester messed up? We'd like to note it in our STP section. We're trying to cover the shows as good as we can but as LP fans we are pretty clueless about STP songs, lol. Slowly learning....

Hey now, not all LP fans are clueless about STP songs ;).

Personally, I'm glad to see your site covering STP. We're trying to on LPA but we're getting a lot of whiny fans who want LP only and can't respect an amazing band like STP.

We're still going ahead with covering STP though. People are just going to learn to deal with it.

Thanks for posting this! I loved this review, especially the end:

The question on everybody's mind is this: How did the new STP with Chester Bennington stack up against the classic version? The answer is this: Don't compare them. This is a different band. It's a new band that just happens to have one of the most amazing back catalogs in the history of rock. I will always appreciate and revere the original STP, but this isn't simply the same band with a fill-in singer. This is something special.

I've seen two of the shows so far (and I'm headed to show #3 tonight), and I couldn't agree more: There's some serious chemistry happening on that stage, and it's really fun to watch!
Photos (lots more to come in all sets, especially Huntington):

Seems like people who've actually seen the band perform live with Chester are coming away satisfied. I'm sure some fans will never accept anyone other than Scott, and that's their right. Based on the video clips in that blog post, the band sounds amazing, better than I ever expected. Funny how YouTube makes Scott sound bad (according to some of the posters on here) but it makes STP w CB sound good. Hmmm...

BTW I've seen your pics of the band, nice!

Haha yes but the LP fanbase in GENERAL is clueless about anything STP, since it's literally a generation before LP. A majority of online LP fans in the community (over 50%) it seems came 2005-now versus anytime before that. We faced huge backlash like that when we started covering Julien-K. Now people know not to comment on it. There's obviously a disinterest in STP on our site unfortunately because the show threads are getting like 5~ replies versus LP getting pages and pages of discussion.

It's all good.... As long as the stuff gets covered it doesn't matter who likes it or doesn't like it. LPL and LPA both covering what Chester is doing is a very good thing.
