So he's officially a part of the band, and they have several songs in the works.

"Are you the lead singer of Linkin Park or the lead singer of Stone Temple Pilots?"
"Both."

Well, that pretty much puts a bow on it. Chester Bennington is the new lead singer of Stone Temple Pilots. Wow.

What the hell was with this interview though? So awkward putting Eric in the middle of that when you know he's not gonna fucking say anything. And why does he look 4 feet tall?
When STP had a cookout after filming the video for the Core single "Plush," Weiland made jerk chicken that was "spectacular," Dean raves.

I'm sorry... But I cheered when I heard him say he's the lead singer.

Chester is officially part of STP now.

It's a good time for him. Linkin Park only has a few shows this year and they were already on a bit of a break because their DJ is doing his film.

I really think Chester is going into this with the utmost respect for the whole band. As you could hear at the end Chester said of Scott, "We wish nothing but the best for Scott. Great singer. Help participate in making some of the best records of all time . Wish nothing but the best for him."

I feel like for STP this is a good thing. Remember that Chester himself if a huge fan. I imagine if Scott wanted to come back that Chester would bow out with no drama because he has Linkin Park to fall back on.

Maybe this is all an attempt to shake some sense into Scott, or maybe it's just the DeLeo brother and Kretz wanting to do what they love and make/play music.

I get how the name thing is an issue, but that too could change and they could have just used it now to get the word out.

It'll be interesting to see how this all plays out.

Nice to see Rob so animated. Really good vibes all round. I'm really stoked for the guys, I guess that's why it's not bothering me like I imagined it would.

It doesn't hurt that they kick ass of course.  ;)

Maybe Scott will make a statement wishing them all the best and congratulating Chester.

That would show a lot of respect, and would gain some respect for Scott as well.

That's my feeling too, despite the weird feeling regarding the name.  My greatest fear when the firing news came out was that the DeLeos and Kretz would just pack it in, and Scott's awful Purple at the Core solo touring would be the only real STP related act out there.  I'm glad they're sticking together and have a lineup that will guarantee them commercial success for the first time without Scott.  New fans will be exposed to STP and the back catalog.  I hope Scott can get his act together and that the boys reunite in a few years, but I'll just enjoy the ride for now.  That's all you can really do in STP world, it's always unpredictable and a bit weird.

That would show a lot of respect, and would gain some respect for Scott as well.

If he says that, he will be full of shit and lying through his teeth.  The only thing Scott could really do to get widespread praise is announce that he's going to rehab and apologize to his former bandmates in both of his bands for the trouble he has caused them.

My initial reaction was...WHAT.  THE.  FUCK.  I don't like Lincoln Park, never have, but the guy can sing.  I really don't like it, but it is a solid move for the band.

Watching a mix of the Weenie Roast performance, it still felt like it was missing something (obviously).  It was lacking.  In the same way that Scott's tour was missing something...

Maybe this is like the Gary Cheron-era of Van Halen or even the John Corabi-era of Motley Crue for STP...

Ok...maybe not that terrible....

That would actually be hilarious. People finally packing arenas to see STP w/ Chester and Scott comes out instead.
