Just got home from the show, and I had a good time. Scott sounded really good, singing and speaking. The crowd was insane, nothing like I expected, and the lights had to come up for a minute while there was a major scuffle right behind me. More on crowd interaction later.
The show as a whole was good. Everyone I heard after the show said how much they enjoyed it, so it wasn't just me, being a huge Weiland supporter. I knew I was going to enjoy the show anyway, but I truly believe Scott was on point all night. For the Wildabouts and the second opening band, the bass and drums totally drowned out the vocals at times. K&C and Big Empty really showcased Scott's vocals, but the rest of the show was stellar as well.
"Fuck you, Chester" chants rang out through the venue after a few of the songs and during encore break. Scott addressed it after a few songs, saying "Chester is in a band that makes a lot of money[...] I'm just going to play some music, play some music, and..play music". He also said something about the new incarnation of STP not even having a name yet, and a spiel which can basically be abridged to "it is what it is".
One thing probably of note, is that Scott had a meet and greet with a couple before he came on, and they ended up coming on stage, and it ended with a proposal. The band then went into Still Remains, of which the couple had tattooed lyrics.
During the "fight" up front near the end of the set, the show was stopped for a minute or two, and Scott just talked. He reaffirmed the crowd that this was not a Metallica concert. After CSMN, he jokingly said "my next tour is going to be me with just my harmonica and an acoustic guitar".
I feel like he talked more tonight than usual, but he was very coherent and I definitely caught him on a good night. He came on at roughly 10:00, and the second opener ended at 9:10. I was thinking the earliest they would go on would be 10, so I was pleasantly surprised. Overall, it was a very solid performance.
