I bet you Bowie, his Idol, dropping his new single out of thin air after a 10 year hiatus inspired him. Hell it inspired me and im not even a song writer!

I absolutely agree. The world has been dark without Bowie in our lives and I think it's a miracle that we've been blessed with another album. I know no one gives a shit about Adam Ant, but he has a new album too!

And Empire of the Sun! It'll be a good year for music.
Do you like STP? Check out my band! We're heavily STP-influenced. http://dropdeadsixtymusic.bandcamp.com/

He commented: "Doug Grean It's going to be a more raw/rock sound. More like a live band playing in the studio. The way it should be. No word on release date, too soon to tell. But hopefully it won't take as long as the last one!!"
Amazing. That's even better! I'll support Weiland no matter what, but his solo stuff has just never really sat well with me because of its genre, none of its bad, but just not my cup of tea and I'm cool with that. However. Depending on how it turns out, I'll probably be supporting this one outright. I'm definitely looking forward to hearing how this one comes out, in the very least. Here's to that!

It would be nice to hear a raw rock n roll record from Scott. He has gone a little more on the pop end the past few years. Get back to some roots!

I agree. It'd be very cool to hear him doing a rock n roll record again.

Ugh. Giver me more STP and forget about this solo crap.

I loved 12BB - that cd didnt leave my player for two years, at least. HIG didn't sit so well with me - and seeing how "sick" he was on that tour still makes me sad. I am not a fan of the Greane produced stuff - at all. It just lacks the emotion and the feeling that the first solo disc and stp's records have, IMO.
How could they not notice it?! Because it's a little mint.  It's a Junior Mint!

STPGurl, you totally echo my feelings on the matter. My heart aches for new STP.

I liked some Happy in Galoshes era songs (The Man I Didn't Know, I Know It's Too Late, Crash, Sentimental Halos) but overall a lot of the songs just sound really generic, especially some of the pop rock songs.  And I'm somebody who LOVES STP/Scott's pop side, I'm a huge fan of Cinnamon, but a lot of the songs on Happy just lacked the musical depth heard on STP albums/12 Bar Blues.  To me the best thing about Scott banging out a solo album so quick is that hopefully it means he and STP can work out their issues sooner rather than later.  Nothing personal against Doug, but I'd like to see Scott do a solo album where he works with a lot of different people.

STP Shows: 5/1/08, 6/24/08, 12/31/08, 7/1/09, 5/25/10, 6/5/10, 10/29/10, 9/22/12, 5/30/13, 9/1/13
Velvet Revolver Shows: 7/22/06, 9/15/07
Scott Weiland Shows: 12/14/08, 12/8/11

Yeah, I agree, Doug's stuff just feels so bleh!  The music is just "music" I only listened to about 6 songs off HIG and one of them is the Bowie cover, the feel is just I dunno how to say this but it would put you sleep there is no "energy" which would make you bounce about the room to.

I agree with you Jessie ♥.

I agree with those that say Scott's solo shows were much more inspired than STP during the last few years where STP basically went through the motions on stage, and played the same songs every night.  Looking forward to Scott's shows more than Stone Temple Autopilots.

STP > Scott solo.  Not sure how to get STP back in the saddle.

am I in the minority who thinks 12BB is the best album Scott's ever been involved with?

Yes.  Great album but nothing in Scott's career has, or will ever, beat STP to me.  Something magical happens whenever those four guys get in a room and make music.

I don't understand why 12BB gets so praise, to be honest. The production was phenomenal but the actual material was pretty damn week. I'd say the opposite applies with HiG. The songwriting was levels above 12BB but the production and the cast of musicians is what made it suffer. I must be the only one who thinks that though.
