Doug says he's working on some new songs with Scotty today!
Score! I'm stoked for him. Hearing that he's actually working on songs is quite something, his former statement of basically a definite tour and a possible album was encouraging, but I had my doubts. This though, is a good thing. :)

Doug posted again:  "Going into the studio with Scott Weiland again today. Writing songs for his new solo record."

Just to remind everyone, I remember Scott talking about working on songs for his solo record back in 2001 for an album that came out in 2008.... Unless Scott does nothing but work on solo material I doubt his will come out this year. But if he is truly done with STP and VR then this may see the light of day before we all have grand kids.

Awesome! I can't wait to hear it! I really hope that it will be released this year...

I can hear it in my head now! I like the idea of having a raw sound so much better than an over produced sound.
STP Shows: 9/5/10 - 7/26/11 - 8/6/11 - 9/10/11 - 8/24/12
STP with Chester: 9/6/13 - 4/25/15
Weiland Shows: 11/28/12 - 3/12/13 - 8/14/13 - 9/14/14
- 3/10/15 - 11/28/15

Doug? Scott? Dudes, bros, if you're out there, I have but one simple request for the new album. Assuming there is a new album and you're not just jerking us off. I already know it's gonna be good because it's what Scotty wants to do, and whenever Scotty's doing what Scotty wants musically he creates magic. So all I'm asking for, and I don't ask for much, is an official record version of Yellow Pills and Pretty Mess. It doesn't even have to be part of the album. Make it a bonus track or ghost track or some shit I don't really care. But a nice polished version of these songs would just be a swell addition to my itunes catalogue.

That's it! thaaaaaaaanks.

When STP had a cookout after filming the video for the Core single "Plush," Weiland made jerk chicken that was "spectacular," Dean raves.

When I saw Scott Weiland at The Independent this last summer, it was a blast! It was what every hardcore STP fan would want but didn't get with the STP shows. Deep cuts. Intimate setting. I was able to high five the guy and pump fists with him a few times. He was much more energized and much more interactive with the audience than when I saw STP in 2010 at the Warfield.

On a side note, I give him a lot of respect for his decision to do his own thing for now. If VR is butt hurt and STP is sitting on ass (who knows what the story is there), then yeah man, good for him for keeping on keeping on.

If there's a new album I hope they explore something new. HiG was great, but a repeat would be pointless.
Do you like STP? Check out my band! We're heavily STP-influenced. http://dropdeadsixtymusic.bandcamp.com/

Recording with Scott Weiland again today. Making very good progress on his new record. If this pace continues we should have this thing sewn up in a month.

This made my day. I was thinking end of the year/next year for a release but if this is really the case then maybe we could even see this come out around April/May. So maybe the 2013 tour dates actually will be in support of an album ( which probably also means a full tour this time instead of a few shows). This is adding up to be a great year for Scott and The Wildabouts!
STP: 2/19/2011 - Thackerville, OK; 4/30/2011 - Birmingham, AL; 8/16/2011 - Austin, TX; 8/17/2011 - Dallas, TX; 11/5/2011 - Concho, OK
SW: 3/27/2013 - Dallas, TX; 4/30/2014 - Dallas, TX; 5/3/2014 - Little Rock, AR; 9/20/2014 - Shreveport, LA; 11/9/2015 - Dallas, TX

I'm very excited.

It would be nice to hear a raw rock n roll record from Scott. He has gone a little more on the pop end the past few years. Get back to some roots!

I bet you Bowie, his Idol, dropping his new single out of thin air after a 10 year hiatus inspired him. Hell it inspired me and im not even a song writer!
