Just got back from the show, and it was great. It was my seventh time seeing Scott live, and my second time seeing him solo (the first time was at the same venue in January 2009).
It's hard for me to just rank this performance among the other times I've seen Scott perform, but I will say that tonight was definitely the most energetic I've ever seen Scott, as well as the most engaging and happy-looking I've ever seen him. He talked a lot to the crowd, and was constantly smiling, especially while interacting with the other guys in the band.
He spoke coherently and never really slurred his words, although he did get pretty out there and at one point said something about skiing down ski slopes and how he doesn't miss (or misses?) shoveling snow, which made me LOL. He also talked about LA and how it has a good side and a dark side, as well as how with his solo band they are free to change up the setlist every night.
The setlist was really good - about what I expected although I was bummed he didn't do Desperation #5 or Art School Girl. There were a couple assholes in the crowd yelling for STP at times and one of them yelled "stop doing gay stuff and play some STP" which obviously really pissed me off. For me, though, there wasn't really a dull moment in the show and I enjoyed every song...Scott's voice was great, there were barely any slips with the lyrics, and Scott was moving around and dancing constantly.
My favorite songs from the show were Do It For The Kids, Tumble In The Rough, and Mountain Song - which the band absolutely nailed. Hearing Black Again and First Kiss On Mars was really cool, but not as exciting or as passionate performances as the three other songs I just mentioned.
Hope everyone else who was there enjoyed it...I'm very content and honored to have another live experience with Mr. Scott Weiland under my belt.
Oh and seeing Scott play harmonica was awesome and unexpected
And one minor (but negative) thing I just remembered was at the very end Scott said "thank you DC" when this venue is right in the heart of Baltimore, my hometown city and also a good 45 minutes to an hour from DC. Nothing against DC, but that irked me and most of the crowd, which booed (not me though lol). Scott recovered nicely though and immediately said "thank you Baltimore..and people from DC" and shrugged and said "we'll combine it into one big city," which made the crowd chuckle
