Ok, so here's a "review" (should I even be calling it that?) about last night's show:

http://www.boweryboogie.com/2012/11/scott-weiland-slithers-at-highline-ballroom-112612/

At this point, I shouldn't be surprised in the least about "reviews" like this one, but they still rub me the wrong way, I can't help myself....well, at least there's a couple of nice photos in there...

alright what's up with Scott? He's lost weight and he's articulating he's words now. Listen to any of those clips, he doesn't have the slurred drawl when he says words now. It's making all the difference in his singing and he sounds great. This is the best he's sounded since 2007, because he's actually articulating words and oppose to mumbling them.

I bet if he did an interview now he'd sound 1000x better
Gotta impress Slash, haha.
I really believe he just attempts to push his best when it comes to his solo work. He has to show his audience that this is something he takes to heart and not just a cash grab thing.
If you only knew..

It rubs me the wrong way too.  Hipsters are the downfall of society...

Clearly the reporter didn't even research SW solo and knew nothing about him, his work, or his history (other than his sobriety issues and that he had an Xmas CD - which takes a 10 second google search to learn).

They did bill the show as "20 Years of Greatest Hits" but greatest hits is pretty subjective and well Scott & STP have atleast 10 years of not committing to a tour title.

This person was clearly looking for STP radio hits the whole night.  Scott has been active enough as a solo artist since HIG came out that you would think this mistake wouldn't be made quite as often.

The worst is that they project their expectation as the whole audience's expectation.  I was in the same room and most folks around me were well aware of the deeper tracks being played and responded well to the set and any bits of jamming.

It's obvious this was a person who was asked to cover a show and had no desire to be there.
Hold me closer.....closer.....let me go!

My STP Concertology:  6/22/01, 10/26/01, 4/21/02, 4/23/02, 5/18/08, 5/26/08, 5/31/08, 8/6/08, 8/8/08, 8/10/08, 7/17/09, 5/18/10, 9/3/10, 9/4/10, 7/25/11, 7/26/11, 9/10/11, 9/1/12, 5/6/18

It's sad how when Art School Girl start there are only a few cheers. They get to see such a rare track being played live for just the second time, and none of them care. Anyway, once again Scott sounded great, I agree with most that this is the best he's sounded since the reunion. No slurring! I'm thinking this engagement may have really helped him. Another thing i've noticed in these videos is that when he gets a little off he knows that he does and he immediately gets back on track, something that he has not done well in recent years.

I totally agree with you. He even says he left before the show ended, that's not very proffesional, to say the least! And it always really bothers me when the first thing people write about Scott is regarding his "sobriety state". WTF? Is that really necessary? And the "reviewer" doesn't even talk about the most important part, which would be the music, the sound, all that.

Some really nice photos here:

Look at 1.42

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w95-thsZmnQ

Ok, I'm a big fan of Scott and more of his solo work, but is it possible that a guy who spent 20 years singing and making music in such basic mistake that I had to repeat the chorus ...

Sober or what?
Look I just want to go out sometime you know.  Like normal people, spend time together and enjoy each other's company. Like best friends.  Like lovers that care.  Who actually respect the relationship you know?"

Oh COME ON! What part of Scott singing "I'm not superman" did you not understand?

This is real raw rock n roll baby, you want a perfect performance with Scott lip syncing? Hell at least he's playing these solo gems, I'd love to be able to see these shows!

Most big name acts mess up here and there, even more so in the beginning of tours when they are still getting use to playing the songs live. Give him a break he rarely gets to play these songs live so it might be hard for him to remember a song from 15 years ago......

I can't believe they played "Art School Girl". Now if only they'd play "Adhesive".

I find it fascinating that he's addressing the set list given all the talk over the past year on these boards.  Awesome.
