Just got home. I said I'd record the gems, but... my camera battery died. My fault, I should have charged it longer. I did manage to get a few pics though. Anyway the actual concert:
As we arrived, there were maybe 50 people in the venue. That gave me a bad feeling in my stomach, but I wasn't going to be pessimistic.
Crash Kings opened up, and they were very talented guys. Not exactly my type of music, but they definitely are talented.
We waited about 45 minutes, and in that time, the venue started to gradually fill. By the time the guitar recording of "No Memory" played, the place was probably half full. I have to say, the sound of the Ovation hall is fucking amazing. It sounded like the actual album! You could really hear Rob's bass in "Sin" too, which gave the song a cooler sound. The songs went on, and I noticed something: Scott's voice was sounding great! In Vasoline, I thought it was the original studio recording.
When they played Hollywood Bitch, the crowd did not stir one bit, which I was surprised about. I pictured a mosh or something. After the band finished it, Scott said: "Shangri La Dee Da". I could hear no applause for it. It makes me sad that the album is forgotten so much... Anyway, Scott told a little story that the band was at a place called "Shangri La" and they liked the name, so they were to name the new album "Shangri La". Then he said that Dean said "Fuck it, let's call it Shangri La Dee Da" I probably got the words of the story wrong, but it was pretty funny. All in all, the rest of the concert was great. Scott did slightly get the timing wrong in "Black Again". I could even see after the song ended that Dean pointed to his watch to Scott, which probably had to do with the slight mistake. I'd say out of the times that I have seen STP, this is the second best. I just hope for the next tour that they expand the setlist a little bit, and have a new album to promote.
One more thing: STP's current setlist is the best thing to do. Almost everyone there wanted only hits. I could tell that when they played Black Again and TITR, only a small portion of people knew the song. The applause was to a bare minimum. Just a little thought. When you are at the concert, the setlist doesn't even matter. The adrenaline takes over every other thought. So, would I see them for a sixth time? Yes.
You could really tell that the guys still enjoy playing!

I felt bad that they didn't do Dead and Bloated. One guy in the front row had a poster that said "DEAD AND BLOATED" Guess he wanted to smell like the rose that somebody gave him on his birthday deathbed?
