Favorite STP Album Cover
« on: January 10, 2012, 12:48:39 AM »
Before I started this topic I searched and I did see there was a topic about this but that was almost 2 years ago before S/T came out so I think I can go ahead and start a new one.

I love every STP album cover, I seriously think they all kick-ass. For me it is very hard to choose my favorite, so I'm interested to see what the overall favorite is. My prediction is that Purple will win.
Here is my list in order:
1. No. 4
2. Core
3. Shangri La
4. S/T
5. Thank You
6. Tiny Music
7. Purple
As I said I love every one of these. It was really difficult to rank these, especially with Purple being at the bottom, because I really love that one too.

STP: 2/19/2011 - Thackerville, OK; 4/30/2011 - Birmingham, AL; 8/16/2011 - Austin, TX; 8/17/2011 - Dallas, TX; 11/5/2011 - Concho, OK
SW: 3/27/2013 - Dallas, TX; 4/30/2014 - Dallas, TX; 5/3/2014 - Little Rock, AR; 9/20/2014 - Shreveport, LA; 11/9/2015 - Dallas, TX

Album covers have never been an STP strong point imo but Thank You is just perfect. I remember when I bought it, I didn't even know it was being released until the last minute, dove into the store, picked it up and just thought, "Yes".
The whole package was kind of a validation of being a fan (especially in the UK where it's always been a bit of a joke to like STP) and the cover exemplified that.

Purple: the irony of the coke tine, and the actual art is really cool, and it always my fav band name font
S/T: a bit partial to pop art, but it's the peace sign for god's sake:3
Thank You:This probly wouldve been number one if it hadnt been a greatest hits album. the other albums art are more part of the art (music, lyrics etc) than this one because its a compilation, but I still dig whoever that is's breasts;D
Core: I love all the art on Core, almost a classic timepiece of what alot of the bands were doing on albums and music videos with the cheesey 90s effects. reminds me a a bit if the dirt album cover. but that initial logo-.- NO
SLDD: Really in love with the band pics in the (sleeve?) of the album cover, and it IS the first appearance of the flower
Tiny Music:Didn't care much for it at first, but the goat legs and crocodile grew on me, and the poster it turns into is flippin cool
No.4:um no. it's a fuckin star, and there was one band shot in the sleeve. sorry:p

You'll never lose it cuz you never had it

No.4 is a badass cover, the booklet doesn't have much inside though

I enjoy that none of the albums bear the name of a song, was disappointed that the S/T was a S/T, hate it when bands do that

I have to agree with both of those points.

Surprised at the lack of votes for Core. Not my favorite, but probably my second favorite.

Can't believe I was the only one to vote for Core!  It's is really artistic and makes me want to know what songs are behind the cover.

I really can't decide on this one...as much as I love every STP album, like Stop That Pigeon said, I don't think STP has the best album covers. None of them really stand out as being amazing to me. I'll have to come back to this topic and see if I can actually vote for just one
My STP shows: 8/10/2008, 7/19/2009, 10/10/2009, 5/22/2010, 4/26/2011, 4/24/2015   Weiland solo: 1/29/2009, 11/29/2012, 3/13/2015    VR: 8/5/2007

It's a tie between Core and Purple.

One day of the week, it's Tiny Music. The next day it's SLDD. Both beautiful album covers that really capture the essence of their respective albums.

Dedicated. Disgusting. Disturbing.

I'm just sittin' on this merry-go-round, and the music is too loud..

Yah that can be a hard choice but when I think about it, I think I will have to choose the Purple album that stands out to me the most. Core comes in a close second for me simply because it's the first STP album. I like the Purple design for the oriental design and it's really unique and colorful as well. I really think it's a universal cover that anybody would like. I also have the poster of the album up on my wall.  ;D
