God, I can't get over how terrible this is. It's a complete joke.

I respect him for trying to show how he can cover a broad range of styles and genre's but he looks terrible and he sounds almost just as bad.

I got a bad haircut like that about 20 years ago and I didn't want to leave the house for weeks. All of a sudden because Scott Weiland does it, it's so cool. If you saw a normal guy on the street with that style you'd all laugh at him and think if he paid more than 5 bucks for it he got ripped off.

This video is a car wreck. I'm ashamed I have watched it twice, with the volume down.

I just read several of your troll rants in other threads and was going to reply to this troll rant but then I read about your age. In your 30's? LOL

This is the approach we should all take with this guy.
Poor 30 something year old guy, I'm starting to feel bad.
I'm here for you Vaporized, feel free to PM me if you need someone to talk to.

What's so wrong with that?

I'm confident there are people that post here that are even older than I am and they post here even more frequently than I do. Age shouldn't have anything to do with it. Pretty sure Rik is even older than I am. Is it shameful for him to be running this website still after all of these years for nothing? The only reason you asshats have a beef with me is because I'm expressing my displeasure with the direction STP and Weiland having been heading and I speak my mind about it. If that makes me a loser, so be it. I think it's hilarious. I know most of the posters on this board are younger kids that don't have a clue. :)

Quite frankly, coming here is a great waste of time while I'm sitting in my office, sending emails, talking to clients via phone and inbetween visits onsite. So, if you're getting the impression of a fat, 32 year old in my Parent's basement in sweatpants and greasy hair, I assure you that this isn't the case. I'm actually quite successful and I still do enjoy finding great new music and LOVE going to rock shows. It's okay to have a youthful side AND be successful.

Trolling? I have been coming here and contributing for 11 years. I DO have a life which is why I don't have 500 posts in a year.

Believe it or not, I have a lot of love for STP and Weiland. Maybe that's why I'm so passionate about why I dislike this shit.

If you REALLY think Scott did this to be cute and funny... enjoy that and continue to think that. I know otherwise.

My take is that the album is definitely supposed to be serious, but also light-hearted and playful because it's Christmas music.

The video is supposed to be cheeky and kitschy. His hair is cut to look like a 40s/50s style like Bing Crosby, Sinatra, etc. for his Christmas album promotion.

As for the face thing. I really don't think he's had any surgery or anything. The main thing I notice is the penciled-over eyebrows which I think is what gives him that Pee-Wee Herman/Clown appearance much like the picture from that recent private party. And I think he's wearing a lot of makeup in the video. I think the combination of the caked-on makeup and penciled eyebrows are what makes him look a bit creepy and Michael Jackson-y. Because sometimes you see him, like at recent STP shows, and his face looks more normal. I think it's all about the makeup. I don't think the guy's had enough time recently to even have had work surgically done to his face and still recover and be on stage without him having bandages or swelling or something. When he grows a little stubble back and washes the stuff off his eyebrows, he'll look like the same old Weiland. Well, and when the sides of his hair grows back, after the Christmas season.

Oh, and I also think being more of a normal weight person now makes his face seem smoother and a tad doughier which changes his appearance and makes it look like he could've had work done, but I think it's just the difference from not having his skin resting right on his skeletal skinny body like the VR and early STP-Reunion days.

Just my 2 cents...

LOL Sorry JugeSTP, I'm taking ya down with me.

JugeSTP is 31. He's got over 1,000 posts in 2 years.

JugeSTP... why do you come here at 31 years old and post so often? Are you a loser too?

wayne gretzky is another lifer, just like me... 2003 registrant and over 2,000 posts. I guess he's a loser too, eh?

The point is, you don't know SHIT about me or my life so there is no sense in putting me, or anyone else on blast because I hate Weiland's Christmas album.

You are not getting it.
There's nothing wrong with being an older member at all, just someone being around that age and trolling around constantly like you have the past week or two or whatever is pretty odd you gotta admit.
That was the laughing point.
You seem to be taking it pretty hard.
You shouldn't though.

Let's just relax and stop calling people out on their personal lives.  Clearly we all like STP.  The only reason all this shit started is because a couple people thought you were being over the top bashing the album/video.  It's fine to disagree, look at Laura, no one is yelling at her she's not a fan of the album, let it be known and it's fine.  Let's just forget about this petty bullshit back and forth.  Vaporized, you've been here for a long time, you're not some random person that joins and just posts shit to anger people. Let's just focus on the video/music

I post when there is something of revelance to post about.

I'm in the know and I know when things are being released. When I get them early from the STP/Weiland camp, I come back and express my thoughts and see what others are saying. It just so happens the last few releases haven't been up to my standards. Especially with all the new music I am into these days. That doesn't mean I don't hold out hope that I'll be blown away by something again.

Weiland's last solo effort was pretty weak with some standout tracks. The last STP was pretty disappointing and the Christmas album was... well you know my thoughts.

If anything, it should be LESS creepy to you that I don't post here all the time and only show up when something new is going on.

As for thinking I took it hard that you called me a loser, I don't give a shit. Your actual opinion of me means nothing. I just wanted to point out how idiotic it is to insult someone on a board, but that's what young fuckers do I guess.  I should act the adult and let it go. ;)

OK first off, I'm definitely a loser, yes. I mean, I posted over 1000 times on a Stone Temple Pilots forum! Haha. I think most of normal humanity would qualify that as "loser" behavior. I am definitely not the coolest member on here, though the compliment is awesome. I'm not going to tell any of you how you should feel about this album, or how you should react... but I do think some people are being over sensitive here. Just remember we all love STP, we all love Scott, that is our common bond. I don't think that means we're bad fans if we hate this particular album/video. But I do think name calling is out of line. Vaporized, just being honest bro, some of your posts are inflammatory. Most of the time you didn't start it, but you definitely escalated it.

Anyway, I'm not playing police here, you guys can keep going at each other's throats if you want. But I just think we should all be happy and merry. That's what Scott would want... clearly. Haha. :)

OK, this is the most inflammatory post I've seen yet. MUCH worse than Vaporized! You are such a jerk! I mean, if you're going to post REM lyrics (nothing against them, they're fine), did you HAVE to pick THAT SONG?!? UGH.

Just kidding.

This says it all right here Vaporized. No hard feelings, you were just being a little overly aggressive with your comments, so surely someone was bound to say something back. If you can dish some heat you should be able to take some too man.

I can't help but wonder why you guys are having such a pissing contest here?

Long ago I realized that arguing over someone else's opinion is childish, ignorant and a total waste of time.
You hate something that another person loves (and vise-versa) - So what? Petty swipes and name calling is not going to change that. More than likely you will probably end up strengthening the other's belief.
Go ahead and hate Scott's Christmas album and video. More power to you, but you will not convince me that this is a bad album.

I'm not saying that this has to be an all STP/Scott love fest all the time, but please state their opinion and move on if you can't have an intelligent conversation/debate about things.

I, for one, love the album and the video. Just because the album is a bit cheesy at times, that doesn't mean Scott didn't take it seriously. With the exception of religious songs, Christmas music isn't usually serious business. As for the video, I feel it reflects the album and almost has an old Lawrence Welk Show feeling to it.

And calling someone a loser based on post count? Seriously?
Over 1000 posts in 2 years = averaging less than 2 posts per day.
Over 2000 posts in 8 years = averaging less than 1 post per day.
Yeah, real big losers there. [/sarcasm]

That all being said, I'm reminded of two things.

One: this quote from Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back:
"The Internet is a communication tool used the world over where people can come together to bitch about movies and share pornography with one another."

Two: "Arguing on the internet is like racing in the Special Olympics. No matter who wins, you're still retarded.

:D

the fact that this thread has turned into a bashfest proves, at the very least, that this video is controversial :)

It's cheesy as hell. I think we can all agree with that. While that was the point, that doesn't mean I have to like the accurate representation of what they were going for. It's just too over the top and like someone said: Scott is not Weird Al. He's a serious artist that writes original music for rock bands. I realize it's unfair/ridiculous to expect him to always release the same album and/or not take a big risk/departure from his comfort zone. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I admire that Scott tried to do this. It's just not good though. Compare this to Michael Bolton/Michael Buble etc... it's just nowhere near as good, and there's a reason I hate those guys. So that's just my opinion and I am glad that many of you like the album/video. If Scott brings joy to you, that was the whole point, so that's awesome. I just can't take this seriously, and while I know I'm not maybe entirely supposed to, I like to take Scott Weiland seriously. His track record commands it. So this departure was a valiant risk but one that backfired for me.

I like Chris Cornell too. That doesn't mean his Timbaland album should be appreciated. That was a horror of an effort. Again, a big risk he decided to take, but one that exploded in his face. I sadly think this is an embarrassment to Scott's legacy.

The best part of this album is the music.  He's always been different, and he has always been a chameleon, so this type of release isn't unexpected.  I am just disappointed that I don't like it more.

And to show you how much I don't like it (save a few tracks, and even those have difficult moments), I actually like Cornell's Scream album.  I know some of you will use that as something to say "your taste sucks," but hey, I know a lot of music snobs that like Scream as a guilty pleasure.

Like the album, this video is not something I can play with pride for my non-fan friends.  I can anticipate the response:  “Wow, so this is Scott Weiland?  The guy you travel around the country to see?”  Um, no.  This is not that guy.

Some of us like this.  Some of us don't.  But we're all very passionate about Scott.  And I think that's a good thing.     :)

I just finished my student teaching and am back at work at my job that pays--a music store selling instruments.  We get to choose the store's "soundtrack" by trading off putting our iPods through the PA.  From Black Friday to Christmas Eve, the only rule is it must be Christmas music.  We listen to traditional stuff, jazzy stuff, and even rock stuff.  This is something I hoped to add to my playlist, but I'm not.

I work with some fantastic musicians, including the owner, who actually likes STP for their skill and songwriting, even though he listens and plays exclusively classical music and big band jazz.  But he plays upright bass, and intonation is extremely important in a fretless stringed instrument like that.  If vocals are off, he'll comment on them.

Last year, I played "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas".  In my excitement for this release, I hadn't really actively listened to it.  But even on that track--one of the better off of the album--Scott doesn't hit all of the notes, and it causes you to cringe.  Most of this album is actually worse.

Because of the quality of the vocals on this CD, I won't be able to play it at work, and I don't think I would want to.  It would be embarrassing to say "yeah this is one of my favorite all-time artists".  When it comes to crooning, timbre, inflection, and intonation are incredibly important.  I'm not sure I like any of those on this record.

Doesn't mean I don't still love the 5 STP records, the VR stuff, and the solo stuff, but this...I just can't roll with the rest of the board on it.
