Song Lyrics by Heart
« on: October 04, 2011, 03:24:50 AM »
Thought about this a few days while working...

to help pass the time I began singing some STP songs that I know by heart and I got to thinking how many of their songs do I actually know ALL the lyrics to without the aid of having to listen to the song... there are some that I know most of the words to, but sometimes I can't finish the song unless I hear it at the same time...

here are the songs that I definitely know all the lyrics to by heart:

Dead & Bloated
Sex Type Thing
Creep
Wet My Bed
Vasoline
Silvergun Superman
Big Empty
Unglued
Army Ants
Trippin' on a Hole in Paper Heart

I could sing these songs in their entirety without having to listen to the music... there are other songs I know the majority of the lyrics to, but still need to hear the tune to help me along...

What songs do you know by heart?

have fun, have fun, have a whole lot of fun!

I'm not even going to try to compile a list because that would take a lot of time.  But there are certain songs where there are places where I know the general sound but don't know what word is actually being said.  Some songs I've just never gone and looked up lyrics I was unsure of.

All of them  ... I'm suprised more people don't?

1. I have a bad memory as it is.
2. Some songs I haven't listened to enough to really remember without hearing the music, such as "Where the River Goes", "Peacoat", and "Take A Load Off".

All of Core, all of Purple, all of Tiny Music, all of No. 4, all of SLDD, and most of Self-Titled.

If there's one I know the most, it's probably Purple. I could probably type all the lyrics to the album right now off the top of my head.

There are probably a couple of places in S/T where I'm a bit spotty on one or two words, but that's about it.

C'mon. People REALLY know all the words to Only Dying without listening to it? I find that hard to believe.

To be perfectly honest, I've never really been a lyric guy. I'm more into melodies, instrumentals, guitar changes, etc. I am not going to list their entire song cataloge and claim that I know all the words, because I probably don't. I know snippets of each song. But to say I know the entire song, probably not. Does that make me less of a fan? Definitely not.

Hell, I just realized I've been butchering Trippin for about 15 years until I saw the words on the big screen. Hehe.
Dedicated. Disgusting. Disturbing.

I'm just sittin' on this merry-go-round, and the music is too loud..
