It defiantely wasn't terrible, Scott did miss his cue to fix it early (by going back to the intro when Eric started to pick the drum tempo again), but he started to do a bit of a Bowie impersonation and really began to wing it.  The most troubling thing is that the boys' were defiantely pissed if they walked out on Scott after this.

And I feel for Scott.  I don't know what it is, but I get the impression that Scott is kept on a short leash by the rest of the band and they can't wait to jump his ass whenever he screws up.  I also get the impression that Scott would like to play more songs every night but the rest of the band can't wait until their 90 minutes is up and they can leave.  It seems like 1 vs. 3 to me.
I hate it when someone posts something while I'm writing my reply and when that said post basically says everything I wrote in MY post, but in a better way.... ;)

Aww thanks Aylin but I liked your post better, anyway  :) .  You and I are usually are on the same page  ;) .

I just wish that the band was tighter and more brotherly toward each other. They seemed like they are easily pissed off judged by the video, and I personally feel that they all think they must play the same setlist because they feel that they are a nastalgic act and lack the strong fanbase to play the deep album cuts.  I feel that this upsets Scott and Rob the most.

I remember the band saying that they were very excited about the new self-titled album coming out because they would have the opportunity to play some fresh tracks.  I also remember them saying that it gets tedious playing the same stuff every night.  Now they are down to just 2 tracks off the new album and I get the impression that they are beginning to feel like this is just a job.  I just wish they knew that they have a lot of hardcore fans that aren't just coming to see Plush and Interstate.  Maybe that is why they aren't so motivated to talk to fans after shows anymore.

These guys have been touring with breaks here and there FOR 3 YEARS!

Not considering the nights when Scott has been drunk (i.e. what I saw in Detroit in March of 2010),
this kinda stuff is gonna happen.  Yes, it is possible to have perfect performances.  But we're talking
about STP.  They've been touring pretty hard lately, and to have an "off-night"....?  It's bound to
occur.  For those at the show, I can see how it would be disappointing.

I left that Detroit show last year very disappointed.  Scott got his act together by the end of the night.
But to me, I lost a lot of respect for the band.  I even considered not going to see them again.
But I did go to another show and they were awesome.  What makes me angry is that there are
fans going to these shows for the first time.  They have never seen STP.  So for these people, I
could understand why they would be upset when they see a bad STP concert.

But for the die-hard fans, there are many of us who have grown to expect this kinda stuff.  It doesn't
make it okay.  All I'm trying to say is cut the guys some slack.  Maybe they are tired.  Maybe Scott is
run-down.  Maybe the guys should just go home and come back to the road when they have some
new stuff to offer.

This doesn't change the fact that STP is my thing.  I still go to they're shows.  Even when I see an
"okay" performance, they redeem themselves the next time around.

Seriously.  Put yourself in their shoes.  They did choose this lifestyle which has led them down a road
filled with same-songs, different city.  No matter what expectations we place on them, they're gonna
have bad days just like you and me.

Once again I agree with you ^^

I agree that it's a shame that   they only play 2 songs from the last album, especially since the last   album actually has lots of songs that could appeal to new fans.  I also   agree that they all go grumpy at the smallest of things, as if  they're   waiting or expecting for something to go wrong even when they appear to   be really happy with each other on the outside.

Basically, I just agree with you all the time  ;)

I just can't stand feeble complaints about seeing a band that I consider myself lucky to be able to see still after 20years regardless of little things that go wrong.
I know true fans are the toughest critics but you won't hear any down talk from my end about one of thee best entertainers ever and band that don't even have to be doing any of this.  Their tours are insane and unbelievable long and weird patterns keep comin constantly.  These guys and especially scott lives for his fans and feeds of the vibe that none of us will ever experience.
Damn I can't imagine if he pulls the tours scheduling when the bank accounts get low like all the bands that the suckers fall for.
Scott is and always will be a world tour dude whatever band he is playin with.
I feel honored to just be on the same property as STP after all these years.  god the whining is unreal. I wish they had negative posts and positive ones and I only got to see the positive ones.
Common how about that mask and dead and bloated and he looks right at the dude's camera in between lines shakin his shoulders.  CLASSIC dude and great footage. made my night.
hawk
ps. Pro musicians are very hard on each other especially when it's live.  What about the big hug with Rob ,goofin around with eric and always playin with dean. If that ain't brotherly love I don't want to know or see what that is or is supposed to mean.

I wasn't trying to come off as someone who jumps to conclusions or anything. I really only want the band to continue, but that's why I said I thought it was a respectable recovery and it could have been much worse: i.e. it could have been a lot worse if Scott was drunk.

After all these years, are we really still trying to expain away why this only happens to Scott Weiland on a regular basis and not, say, Foo Fighters or PJ? I love STP and I love Scott, but we all know what Scott's problem is and isn't a damn cold or TheraFlu.

OK so after thinking about this here is my conclusion.  The only reason this is such a big deal to us, is that this is our favorite band.  We analyze every single mistake that they make and we over-analyze them because of Scott's checkered past.  This is nothing more than a flub.  I'm sure it happens to every band all the time, but since we arent watching every video and getting concert reviews every night we dont hear about it.  Yeah he fucked up.  They recovered and turned it into a neat little jam where Scott still had the presence of mind to work the words of the snog in there.  He kept his cool, the band kept their cool, and they worked it out.  One mess up and everyone is crying drugs.  It's crazy

Actually... i loved the jam and i think they did a great job. Scott didnt seem high, just tired and of course.. after singing the same songs night after night.. he was in automatic pilot.

Everyone makes mistakes... the only thing that bothers me is that they didnt play Trippin' and that the boys went off stage really upset. A break of touring wouldnt be so bad right now.
Seems like you left me when you broke down

I actually enjoyed watching the hiccup... I love the way they improvised, not to mention hearing a Dead and Bloated solo was pretty badass  8)

AMEN Brother!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The mask looked like a fan made treat for Scott so if true Scott once again was doin it to make a fans night or life for that matter.  Maybe one of their kids made it for him.  I wasn't there so if anyone seen him pick it up from the stage it was obviously from a fan but if he came out wearing it from the side it looks kid made.

My wife & I went to see Neil Diamond at Scotland's national stadium in Glasgow during the summer.

After an extended band intro, the first thing he said was, "We're going to be here for a long time - there's no interval."

And that's exactly what happened. Neil Diamond is 70 years old. He respects his fans and gives value for money. It's not that hard.

The video posted above is not that bad. It's ok, hey he had a cold, it's actually pretty good - check out the improvisation. Wait a minute, it's the best live track ever...honesty anyone?

In reference to your other post in the Pearl Jam thread, I do love the music. No question. But I am also fascinated by the man.

I don't know much about Neil Diamond. It sounds like he must be a wonderful performer. I don't know if Mr. Diamond struggles with addiction, as Scott does. I do know that I am totally guilty of scrutinizing and overanalyzing Scott's every move. I do that because I worry and want him to do well, because I genuinely care, and because I want him to continue to make that beautiful music that I love so much.

If that makes me a fangirl, so be it.

I don't think that anyone on here is angry about the fact that they got the song wrong, and I don't think anyone is complaining.  I also don't think it was a major end-of-STP type screw up.  But it's never nice, as hard core fans, to see Scott tired enough to make mistakes, and more importantly it's never nice to see the band walk off stage, even thought it's happened so many times before.

Sure they're still our fave band and we're lucky to be able to here them live after 20 years.  Tomorrow they'll be back to hugging and joking around.  But it's still not a nice thing to think of our band arguing off stage...

I don't think he's drunk or anything, but this video of Vasoline was kinda of weird to me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8dAzVMW-wQ
First he sings the high part too early and then he picks up the megaphone to sing the third verse???
