I love how he sang the first half of "Michelle" in Gramercy right before his Erik Kretz speech. It sounded haunting.

I even tried to find a cover of this song by other artists that would sound similar to Scott's take, but no luck. All of the other versions sounds happy.

I loved what he was singing although I had no idea what it was.
Sorry, I'm not a Beatles savvy, I admit in this case it's almost a crime not recognize that song :P

I know we've heard Scott doing The doors plenty of times but I really wanted him to drop some new cover of them in this CD. The Crystal Ship...

Hell yeah! "The Crystal Ship" is another one of those Doors songs that Scott could totally do great with.

3 are more than enough. Even when I love Bowie and him covering, more than 3 will be too much for a covers record.

ashes to ashes is an interesting choice to cover... I can already picture how its gonna sound vocally.. Same bowie vibrato used in FKOM     -_-

I wonder if this is the version they plan to use on the album. I'm not sure he could top this version ever. It's pretty ultimate.

As I said earlier in this thread, I think it will be a different version, but with the same vocal track. It's just perfect.

I might get some grief for this but am I the only one disgusted by the fact that he's coming out with a covers album? I don't mind some covers sprinkled in with originals, but come on...To me, nothing signals the washing up of an artist more than a covers album.

I don't know, I think I'd rather get all the covers out of the way in one batch and then have all new stuff next time. Although, that being said, I won't believe this is even coming out until I have it myself.

I think it's great.... way better than a Christmas album (at least this isn't "seasonal music").

He's written songs for 6 STP albums (not including MJY), 2 VR albums, and 2 solo albums (one of which was a double).  This all during the course of 20 years!  He seems to enjoy playing covers of songs that have influenced him throughout his life, plus it's supposed to coincide with his book.  I don't think he's washing up, I just think he's doing something different.... something he enjoys.

There are many artists that have released cover albums and were FAR from being washed up. Bowie released Pinups in 1973...and he had MANY great albums after that. I'm a fan of cover albums. Sometimes it recharges an artists batteries and their best work follows.

Listening to VR's cover of "Angie/Mary" made me think of how amazing it would have been an studio version for this record.

How nice would be a cover of "The Crystal Ship" from The Doors?
Seems like you left me when you broke down
