*OFFICIAL* STP Song Tourney: Quarter Finals "Elite 8"

Results of Round 3 "Sweet 16" are in; and what a very interesting round it was. Some back-and-forth action between many of the match-ups. I thought I knew exactly what would win, but there were 3 that surprised me.

Plush (68%) - Tumble in the Rough (31%)
Seven Caged Tigers (51%) - Down (48%) This was one that surprised me, all though it was very close.
Vasoline (51%) - Silvergun Superman (48%) Silvergun may possible be my favorite from Purple. I am not surprised, however, to see Vasoline advance.
Sour Girl (45%) - Kitchenware & Candybars (54%) This surprised me a bit.
Interstate Love Song (65%) - Atlanta (34%)
Dead & Bloated (20%) - Trippin on a Hole in a Paper Heart (79%) Well Trippin on a Hole continues to dominate every match-up its been in. Good bye to my favorite STP song, Dead & Bloated (which I actually heard on the radio this morning going to work!)
Army Ants (57%) - Coma (42%)
Big Bang Baby (35%) - Adhesive (64%) This surprised me, yet again. The love for Adhesive continues to show.

We are now down to the "Elite 8" songs with 4 match-ups remaining. The only albums still represented are the first 3: Core, Purple, and Tiny Music. Seeded song numbers 1, 2, and 4 remain. Somewhat surprising, low seeded song numbers 43 and 44 also remain. This has been very interesting thus far and equally fun.

The 2 match-ups that come up next in the Semi-Finals and the last Final Match-up will take place in a poll directly on this board and not on the hosting site I've been using. I'm doing this because I want to be able to hide the results until the match-up is complete. This should add a level of suspense and excitement, hopefully.

I agree with you. I've been running a fair and honest tourney here and this is how it has ended up so far, but just surprising to say the least.

Oh for fucks sake.  Trippin vs ILS?  I've been going back and forth.  The bass line of Trippin, the melody of ILS.  It's impossible to choose.  I think I'm going for ILS, but I'll cry while I'm doing it..

I disagree with it being "ridiculous." Adhesive is one of the best songs they ever wrote and has a strong following as result. Just because it's not the radio friendly or a hard rocker doesn't mean it can't be the "Butler" of this tourney.

I don't find it ridiculous. I LOVE all of STP -- just some songs more than others. I am, however, surprised to see Adhesive make it as far as it has, that's all. Not disappointed though.

Trippin and ISL is a cruel choice. Trippin is my fave now but I remember clearly listening to ILS on the radio before I was a full blown Pilot head and saying "This is the best band ever"
So in tribute to that moment it has to be ISL.

I think Army Ants lucked out with its matchups.  No way that it should be in the Elite 8.
