Talk Show Feelings
« on: March 10, 2011, 03:58:07 AM »
I just recently started to listening to Talk Show and have to say I am pleasantly surprised.  This album has some great songs on it IMHO.

I only wish the DeLeo brothers would have had Scott sing Morning Girl and Ring Twice.  I feel like his vocals could have made those songs hits.

I hate to say it but this album is better than No. 4 and Shangri for me.  I do like STP album better than this album

Talk Show is a great album. The DeLeo brothers and even Kretz were completely ON with their songwriting during this period.

I think I heard a couple songs in 1997.  I'm totally guilty of ignoring this record.

Great disc - although many here will disagree.  Morning Girl, End of the World, and Ring Twice are my favorites - and the video for Hello Hello is priceless.
How could they not notice it?! Because it's a little mint.  It's a Junior Mint!

I like it but I don't find myself going back to it, now and then I remember it exists and enjoy it. At first listen I did not like the vocals at all, they've grown on me.

The only songs I like from this record are "Hello Hello" and "Peeling An Orange".
For some uncertain and weird reason every time I hear "Peeling An Orange" I find myself thinking of my trip to Poland in 1997. I wonder if I heard this song out there somehow, but it's looks kinda impossible. Was it ever played on the radio?

I have blantantly ignored this record for the most part since 1997. At the time, I couldn't get over the fact that the rest of STP was releasing an album without Scott Weiland. I have not given this record a chance at all, and I probably never will. Not saying it's right or anything, but from what I've heard from majority, I am not missing much.
Dedicated. Disgusting. Disturbing.

I'm just sittin' on this merry-go-round, and the music is too loud..

The instrumentation is first class, if Scott had done the vocals it just might be one of my all time favorite albums.

Yeah the instrumentation is great but I still can't get used to the other singer - I may never.

This album is just a few years after Tiny Music, when Dean & Rob were at the absolute height of their songwriting prowess. I love it.

It would have made a killer STP album though, which is the only downside to it.

Exactly! Imagine what the last few songs would have been like with Scott on em :D

I'm a big fan of Talk Show..John, Peeling an Orange and Fill the Fields are some of my favorites off the top of my head...I hear a big Zeppelin influence in a lot of the songs....I think I'll give this album a spin later this evening.

Yeah the instrumentation is great but I still can't get used to the other singer - I may never.

I never really got the hate on the vocals, sure it's not Weiland, but it's really not bad at all. I thought Dave Coutts did a great job with the melodies and sounded good
