I really like the solo of BTL. But my favorite is Trippin' solo :)
Seems like you left me when you broke down

Let me add Trippin in there as well, I love the epic build up at the end. Just take a listen from 2:09-2:23, the only word I can use to describe it is epic. That part of the guitar riff just builds up to Scott's final vocals of the song, and for STP the night... thanks to them being smart and making it the closing song. The more I listen to this band, the more I think they are the most talented group of musicians ever! Yes, that includes The Beatles, Rolling Stones, and whatever other bands you want to add in there. Seriously, think about it, there contrast in amazing. This is a band that is so good and diverse they can make songs like Crackerman and Creep and put them on the same record and have it go together perfectly.

Add in Lady Picture Show for me. It is really hard to distinguish Dean's solos because the man operates on two levels, great and better than great.

1- Seven Caged Tigers
2- Army Ants
3- Bi-Polar Bear
4- Trippin
5- Huckleberry Crumble

I know, it's a wierd list but these are my favorite solo's.

And So I Know..........

Shit yeah! Great solo.

I'm gonna have to upgrade to a top 20 lol There are so many Dean solos that are on my favorites list.

Also, I'm suprised that I'm the only one who's listed non-STP material. I thought AoA had some of the best solos Dean's ever done on it. And Talk Show wasn't to shaby on the solos either

In all previous records the guy who came up with the riff usually got the credit for the whole song. Unglued, for instance, is credited to Scott even though Dean wrote the solo and Rob wrote some of the of the other bits.

What happened with Trippin, I believe, is that Kretz wrote the entire song except for the melody and solo. If you listen to the album, there's a rythm track under the solo that's nearly identical to the first 2 verses. I doubt they even knew where the solo was going to go until after Scott came up with the melody. So I think Kretz came up with the riff, the verses and the chorus as well as the bassline and drums, they handed that to Scott who came up with the melody and the lyrics, and then finally Dean wrote the solo while they were recording. But that just speculation.

My current favorites:
Lady Picture Show
Trippin
Between the Lines

Usually, writing a solo will not earn a songwriting credit.
