i might as well throw in the fact that regeneration is my favorite STP song.
i find it to be the most interesting piece lyrically weiland has written.
sometimes i just read the lyrics of it without playing the song.
i think its about weilands issues with the media
the title as well interests me because it seems as if weiland is using the term regeneration which basically means rebirth/revival in a negative manner.
possibly a reference to the nobel prize winning novel titled "Of mice in men" written by John Steinbeck at the end?
very well written song  that doesn't get too much attention.

I also like the lyrics.  But the music isn't a favourite STP. A bit too all over the place for my liking.
But then again, variety is the spice of life and STP sure gives us variety...

for the longest time i would skip this song 5 seconds into it because the intro didn't grab me right away like most STP intros do. I love it now, but it ended up being the very last STP song i discovered

I always likened this one to Ride the Cliche - two incredibly overlooked songs that add a nice dose of diversity to their respective albums.

somebody help me im having a serious crisis.
i just realized i may be mis-interpretting my favorite STP song.
is it "to the fields where we all fall low"
or is it " to the fields where we all follow"
both make sense and both come out exactly the same, so is there even a possible way of knowing which one scott is saying?
I dont buy albums so i wouldn't know if Shangri has the lyrics printed inside.

SLDD is my everything but Regeneration is a bit out of place for me... The chorus bores me, I loved it for the first spins but the album kept getting better and better and Regeneration didn't. I don't hate the song, I don't even skip it.
I do think lyrics are interesting though...
"We grew with the speed of light but crashed in the night"

"Celebrate the immortal youth that wasted you"

I think that has just become my favorite line written by Scotty.
it pretty much sums him up as well, along with people who abuse drugs in general at a young age.
Your not thinking of how it will affect you when your older, your only thinking about the present and getting your fix right now.
I wonder if Scott could go back now, if he would do it all over again

You know, thats an interesting thought.

There is some people like Lemmy or Keith Richards that wouldnt change anything and the public knows it. But Scott have lost so much because of his life of drugs.... but it has also made him the fucking awesome rockstar he is.

Imagine the following characters without using drugs... do you think they could become icons of rock n roll music without using them?

Jim Morrison
Janis Joplin
Layne Staley
Kurt Cobain
Sid Vicious

And you can name many more....
Seems like you left me when you broke down

This line could be about many things but drugs have never come to my mind - maybe you're just obsessed with bullshit.

So what if I dont buy cds?
nobody buys them these days and I was too young to get them when they first came out.
I love the music and have seen them live 4 times.
Twice driving across the country.
Hell anyone who has an account for a band on a forum is a true fan in my book

Independant of this debate, it is my personal belief that it is a true joy to hold in your hands a hard copy of the album of your favourite band.  The artwork, the liner notes, the pictures, the CD design, it's place on the shelf in your bedroom, and the feeling of going to a music store to purchase it in the first place.  It's all very satisfactory.  And also nice to know that if your computer crashes and you lose your iPod, you still have the orignal on the shelf.

I'm not linking this to fan-ness, I'm just saying that there's something to be said for owning a copy of the albums.

I agree with what you said and I DID buy the self titled album the day it came out.
Im twenty years old, I will buy upcoming cds that I am looking foward to hearing, like I bought motorheads latest album because I couldnt wait to hear new motorhead material.
But im not gonna go back and buy older cds from decades ago, I enjoy the experience of finally getting your hands on an album after you've been anticipating its release for months, but for older albums that have been out for a decade or longer, that experience is already dead for me, so I download those.

Its a shame for those front men who died from drugs too early and never got to reach the iconic status like the ones you listed....Andy Wood and Shannon Hoon are the saddest victims that come to mind
