Hollywood Bitch
« on: December 18, 2010, 01:03:13 AM »
just wondering real quick...was hollywood bitch one of the many songs that got blacklisted from radios in  2001 after 9/11 happened?

i cant remember where i read that....also that it was released as a single in september of 01 and it was only on the radio for not even 2 weeks before it was blacklisted like many others

can anyone confirm this?

It was "Big Bang Baby," not "Hollywood Bitch" - but, I believe (I may be incorrect), "Days of the Week" was also on the list.

However...

The list of "blacklisted" songs was just a SUGGESTED list, and was issued only for ClearChannel radio stations.  Some of the songs listed made sense to "ban" - like how it would be in poor taste to play Pearl Jam's "Jeremy" on repeat after a school shooting. Others were "censored" simply because they contained certain words/phrases (ie "shoot me in the head).

Someone else may have some more information or sources - that's all I've got, and its just from memory (which is occasionally fuzzy :) ).
How could they not notice it?! Because it's a little mint.  It's a Junior Mint!

I believe I read something about Hollywood Bitch being banned from schools, though. I could be wrong though.

The song would have to receive some airplay in order to be blacklisted. (Fucking Atlantic Records)
Dedicated. Disgusting. Disturbing.

I'm just sittin' on this merry-go-round, and the music is too loud..

heres an interesting quote regarding HB

"I don't care how tired the argument is, Days was an awful choice for a lead single, and by the time they figured that out and tried to rectify it with Hollywood Bitch, September 11th happened after it had been on the radio for less than two weeks, and wound up getting black listed (with a slew of other songs for no good reason) over a simple lyric."

this is the same thing i saw that made me start the topic...... its not from a magazine or anything just something another STP fan said on another site, some other similar mentions too... i suppose only someone who was a fan back in 01 would know... plus the song peaked at number 24 i believe? ( dont quote me there ) could explain that it lived a short radio life before being cut off

There's still a large problem with the moral police nowadays. I wish these people would learn that if no one is being hurt and there's no REAL crime, they need to STFU and mind their own business.
