But under best hard rock?

http://www.spinner.com/2010/12/01/grammy-2011-nominees/

Also being against soundgarden, Ozzy & TCV....I hate to say....they probably won't win. BUT it's nice to be nominated.

Under best hard rock because it's that little part about Grammy that's still about music... other than that LOVE to see them nominated. I confess I was convinced it was not going to happen :)

I DO believe they can make it. Really, did you all forget how HUGE was Between the lines when it came out!?

Cmon! that song could be played today or in 15 years and it will still going to be amazing!

They are nominated under the Best Hard Rock Performance category, not Best Hard Rock Album like the article says.

A LOOKING IN VIEW - Alice In Chains
LET ME HEAR YOU SCREAM - Ozzy Osbourne
BLACK RAIN - Soundgarden
BETWEEN THE LINES - Stone Temple Pilots
NEW FANG - Them Crooked Vultures

I'd be shocked if STP won.

If I bet money, I'd put it on Them Crooked Vultures.

Best song, though, is A Looking in View.

Those nominees are a wet dream for my Grunge/90's rock loving self.  Had a lot of fun shoving all those fuckers together for the current headline photo on http://www.grungereport.net poor Eddie Vedder's head is almost cropped out.

STP Shows: 5/1/08, 6/24/08, 12/31/08, 7/1/09, 5/25/10, 6/5/10, 10/29/10, 9/22/12, 5/30/13, 9/1/13
Velvet Revolver Shows: 7/22/06, 9/15/07

Between The Lines did the best out of all of those songs on the charts.

Two of those songs were released as singles in 2009.

Seems like none of the radio stations gave a damn about Black Rain or whatever shit Ozzy put out.

I don't expect STP to win though, because awards shows are straight retarded.

My opinion is that Soundgarden and the song "Black Rain" is a pathetic lame attempt to squeak one out real quick plus the double lp they released has all their old shit on it and one new song. Cornell is just completely sad especially the way he walked away from AS.   Now his solo and reborn soundgarden voice is even worse. He screams and screams and screams when he shouldnt even scream. Plus that screaming that he was famous for is slightly worn out and more or less irritating.
Gotta sample the other nominees songs first for me to decide.  I my head from the recording/writing process and overall out come of BTL is purely genuine rock.
hawk.
ps. Ozzy uses alot of synthesized vocals and instruments to make him and his band (especially him) sound 20years younger=grammy loser.

The first year the Grammys recognized "Hard rock" performance was after 1989. After the "incident" was when they came up with best metal, alternative etc...categories because of a little controversy & a lot of criticism

That first year of the Hard rock performance in 89 the nominees were:  AC/DC, Iggy Pop, Janes Addiction, Metallica & Jethro Tull. Basically Janes & Iggy were recognized, rightfully so but also weren't really "metal" or "hard rock".
Everyone expected Metallica to win.
When they announced Jethro Tull as the winner everyone at the awards show booed.

Grammys are a joke & nothing but a popularity contest. It has nothing to do with recognizing real artists or good music.

The Grammys and the MTV music awards are one in the same.

Cool to see both PJ and Tom Petty in the best rock album category. Backspacer was PJ's best since Yield, and Tom Petty and the Heartbreaker's Mojo is my album of the year for 2010. Absolutely BAD ASS.

Of course, I'll be rooting for STP, but I won't bother watching because they NEVER air any of the hard rock/metal awards.
Dedicated. Disgusting. Disturbing.

I'm just sittin' on this merry-go-round, and the music is too loud..

no even if they win.
Just like being nominated for the HOF or AMA's or VMA's....it's a popularity contest. Never to really deserves it.

Wellll... I agree with most of you on the whole "Grammys are a total joke" thing.  However, this is still exciting news and it's nice to see our boys getting a little recognition for their efforts.   :D
How could they not notice it?! Because it's a little mint.  It's a Junior Mint!
