Country album?
« on: October 05, 2008, 08:50:36 PM »
I read a while ago, Scott wrote that song with Tim McGraw to sing with him in mind. Tim is adopted I guess so he could understand the lyrics too. But... I never heard of Tim doing anything with Scott, so I guess he just kept it for himself. Which explains thecountry vibe to it. He even dressed all "countryfied" when he sang it on tv!! Hahaha!

Tim isn't adopted.  :P

His mother and step-father raised him - though he believed his step-father was his actual birth father until he was 11 or 12ish.  His biological father, Tug McGraw (who was a baseball player) denied the fact that Tim was his child until he started seeing how much the two looked alike.  They became very close as adults and remained close until Tug's death.

BUT... I think that given that situation, the song would have still worked for him.  :)

I probably shouldn't make this public knowledge...

...but I'm a major fan of country music.  :)

Awww.... HAHAHAHA!!! Hey, well, I dont really listen to much, but I did grow up with it, though that was in the 80's... that music has changed so much, its kinda like rock sometimes. My sister listens to it & I tell her shes basicly listening to rock & roll, she just doesnt know it. I mean for God sakes, Bon Jovi's done a country album... so shes DOES like a rock & roll band, kinda.

Don't be ashamed, I'm a Waylon Jennings fanatic.

I don't dig new country, just the old stuff I heard growing up riding around with the parents. Charley Pride, Willie, Conway Twitty, George Jones, old Alabama, Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash...

Never really liked the female country singers all that much, well, except for Dolly Parton when I was little, hehe :)

I don't dig the female singers either (I saw Faith Hill with Tim McGraw last year and seriously almost puked -- soooo cheesy!).
I like some of the oldies, but am especially partial to Toby Keith, Kenny Chesney, Tim McGraw, and some of the more "rock-oriented" type country acts, like Mel (weilandfan) was talking about.

Ha - and now we're waaaaaaaaay off topic.  So I'll end it there.  Back to Weiland.  Mmm.

Man it would have been so fucking rad if Scott had done a song with the Man in Black before he died.

I'm not really into Country Music, but I do admit that I watched Nashville Star 4 to see Scott and Duff as judges.

I saw that show too for them! That was really cool. I wonder if the die hard fans were wondering wtf they were doing on there... if they even knew who they were at all!!
