Weiland's Cover Song Performances...
« on: September 17, 2010, 02:23:26 AM »
I'm not quite sure what board to post this on... but I figured this would be as good as any.  With Santana's cover song album dropping this Tuesday... and Weiland set to release a full album of Christmas tune covers - I figured it'd be nice to start a topic about it.  So... what is your favorite cover song that Scott Weiland has been a part of (released on CD or broadcast on TV)?

Revolution (The Beatles)
Break On Through (The Doors)
Time Of The Season (The Zombies)
Fame (David Bowie)
Can't You Hear Me Knocking (The Rolling Stones)
Dancing Days (Led Zeppelin)
Andy Warhol (David Bowie)
Christmastime Is Here (Vince Guaraldi Trio)
Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas (Judy Garland)
Other?

Shine On You Crazy Diamond (Pink Floyd)
Ashes To Ashes (David Bowie)
Some Things Must Go This Way (Paloalto)
Reel Around The Fountain (The Smiths)
Be Not Afraid (church hymn?)
Waiting For Superman (The Flaming Lips)
Mountain Song (Jane's Addiction)
Can't Stand Me Now (The Libertines)
Get Up Off That Thing (James Brown)
Surrender (Cheap Trick)
No More, No More (Aerosmith)
Money (Pink Floyd)
Bodies (The Sex Pistols)
Negative Creep (Nirvana)
Psycho Killer (Talking Heads)

Oops, some of those weren't actual releases or broadcast. Good songs though.

I think my favorites are probably Can't Stand Me Now, Shine On You Crazy Diamond, Ashes To Ashes, Psycho Killer and Andy Warhol.

Awwwww sheeeeeeit. Forgot about that one. I fucking love it. I remember how happy I was to hear it in Not Another Teen Movie the first time after learning that Scott recorded it.

Didn't even like that one on the cd when i first heard it.. but watching scoot open his solo shows with it changed my perspective on it comepletely..now it is one of my favs on HIG

"But Not Tonight" and "Ashes To Ashes" by Scott are more than just covers. These tracks are very important for me.

It wasn't mentioned but my favorite would probably be 'Mary' (Cover of Angie by the Stones).

Also, aside from the ones listed, and a previous thread about songs we'd like to hear Scott cover... I'd always want him to finish some of the cover's he's teased.

Garbage - Only Happy When it Rains  (back in 2000 or 2001 he teased a little bit of those lyrics.)

Bowie - TVC15 (Which he's been singing some partial lyrics during Sour Girl occasionally for the past few years.)
