I agree. The Unplugged shows aren't about changing the songs. They are about playing them acoustically, which in some cases requires rearrangment. I don't see a problem with playing an acoustic song as it was written if it was originally an acoustic song. Some of the heavier stuff requires rearrangement though and that's what I think really showcases the talent of a band.

i can agree with that. and they changed it a tad but it wasnt substantial.

My favorite part of the Sex Type Thing from Unplugged was "hey, how's your steak?"  Haha, laughed my ass off.  It's a great arrangement nonetheless.  I've actually been trying to get my band to do a similar version of Sex Type Thing.

Haha, you got it.  Plush is already in our regular rotation, along with an acoustic mashup of Elton John's Bennie & the Jets and NIN's Closer.  It's pretty rad.

"I wanna f**k you like... the fatted calf tonight"?
If I was stronger I could be a mountain range
If night was longer Could I escape the day?

Yeah, I don't quite get that either.  WTF?

Maybe because VR was doing it so he wanted to give it a rest

Haha, yeah, we do the words from Closer over the verse of Bennie, then go into the chorus of Bennie, back into Closer over the verse.  Very cool, it goes over well at our gigs.

I loved the Unplugged series - Nirvana, Alice in Chains, STP, Clapton, McCartney, Pearl Jam, etc. I think they should bring that back - wait - MTV doesnt do that music thing anymore - HA.

anyways I wish they would release the whole performance on DVD like AIC and Nirvana. but as mentioned earlier, the STP and Pearl Jam performances were hindered by the fact they were early in the band's careers. Nirvana and AIC were both one of the final performances in their careers and is deeper in song selection

STP's unplugged performance is so underrated and forgotten in general that it's a shame. Nirvana get all the credit for their "great" episode, but to me the swing version of "Sex Type Thing" and visual of Scott rocking out in the, well, rocking chair is timeless.

I hope they release it on DVD someday, although I doubt it will happen. For now I'm glad to have a "DVD Quality" VHS transfer I downloaded from The Trader's Den.

They could release it as a EP or even a CD/DVD combo, much like Linkin Park / Jay-Z did with "Collision Course" a couple of years ago. The CD was only six tracks and the DVD had the same, plus some "Making Of" / "Behind the Scenes" footage. People will buy it. WE will buy it.

STP unplugged is an amazing performance all around, but I think Scott is really at his best on vocals. He sounds absolutely incredible on Crackerman, & Big Empty especially, which happens to be my favorite performance of all time from them.

even if MTV went back to actually broadcasting stuff that was even slightly related to music and decided to revive unplugged. there really arent any bands that could do it. mainly because todays music is for the most part pretty damn terrible.

I like STP's unplugged but I don't think it's amazing or anything. It's a basic unplugged; They go in there, play the "hits", a cover, and one or two other songs. The performance of Big Empty though was awesome, and I enjoyed Creep unplugged a lot.

Best Unplugged ever? Nirvana. Easy.
