Reception of the New Songs Live
« on: August 29, 2010, 06:18:03 PM »
Curious as to which of the news songs played live is getting the best reception from the crowd.

I have seen them a few times, but couldn't really gauge the audience well. I think Between the Lines was getting the most sing-a-longs, but Huckleberry gets a pretty big crowd pop when the band finishes.

If any of these songs are getting good reaction, hopefully it's because people are out buying the album.

Yeah, Cinnamon got a good reaction when he introduced it as the new single. And Detroit really likes Huckleberry..

Dare didn't really get that great of a response but the others seemed to be big crowd pleasers esp BTL

When I saw STP in May (which was the only time I've seen them in 2010 and was a couple days before the album came out), Between The Lines definitely got the biggest response. They cut Bagman from that set but still played Hickory and Huckleberry which both rocked live and got pretty favorable responses. I wasn't the only one there who recognized those latter songs either which was pretty cool too considering the album hadn't been released yet.
My STP shows: 8/10/2008, 7/19/2009, 10/10/2009, 5/22/2010, 4/26/2011, 4/24/2015   Weiland solo: 1/29/2009, 11/29/2012, 3/13/2015    VR: 8/5/2007

After seeing three shows in the last week, I'd have to say the reception of the new songs was different at each one.  @ Mohegan Sun, people were actually sitting during Cinnamon while @ the Borgata, a number of people were singing along.  I think the show @ PNC really had the greatest # of people who were into the new stuff though Borgata was a close second.  Mohegan Sun was a rough crowd for the new stuff.  Definitely skewed to the over 40 age range, which probably had something to do with it; they were there more for the classics...In my opinion, Huckleberry Crumble and Hickory Dichotomy were the strongest live.

I remember in Columbus "Dare" did not get a good response at all. In fact, during that song the once-crazy crowd became motionless and no one was paying attention to the stage. The response when it was over was pretty lackluster, too. Its no wonder why they dropped it from the set after that show. Ironically, it was the highlight of the show for me since I love the song so much and have seen the others live before.

In Detroit, "Hickory Dichotomy" had the crowd dancing and clapping. "Huckleberry Crumble" got a very nice response, partially because Scott included us as being part of the inspiration for it.
