Check out the entire Ep that one song doesn't do it just. They have almost a guns n roses feel to some of the guitar playing I can't explain. By the way I have been listening to allot of Silverchair lately but I still need to buy an actual copy of Diorama I wish they would release a box set with all the singles and outtakes from it on vinyl.

Curious, what exactly is that sweeping/wooshing sound heard in the background of this track every once in a while? I'm a musician myself and I've never known. Curious what they did for that sound. It sounds like a brush or a rute with quite a bit of reverb on it, but the sound is pretty thick and drawn out for that to be the case.

If I'm detecting the same thing you're talking about... it sounds to me like multiple guitar tracks... and that's the think sound of an acoustic guitar blending in and out at various times.

That's very interesting if that is in fact the same sound I'm talking about, doesn't seem like any kind of sound a guitar could make unless there was some haphazard amp activity. Then again, I'm not a guitar player so I wouldn't know. Large sweeping sound, happens at 0:09, 0:22, 3:18, 3:31, 4:41, and 4:54. It adds a great deal of ambiance to the song, which is what made me think it was percussive in nature. Not to mention the fact that it would make sense in the context of how the song was composed.
