Nine Inch Nails - Terrible Lie
Been getting back into Trent and Nine Inch Nails lately. Hesitation Marks has kind of rekindled my interest in the band. To me, Hesitation Marks is more akin to a kind of strange fusion of Pretty Hate Machine, highlights of The Downward Spiral, and touches of With Teeth, with a little more ambience thrown in. Very interesting album, I don't love the album but I'm really enthralled with the entirety of it. The sounds and textures he used are just so intriguing, from these bouncy synth grooves that could've come clean off of Pretty Hate Machine, to the meandering acoustic guitar of Lindsey Buckingham, the entire composition of the thing is sort of unique and varied, as well as versatile. I wish I could've seen what he was thinking in studio, because some of these little touches just seem like sheer strokes of genius, and that's coming from someone who isn't a colossal NIN fan.
