Stone Temple Pilots to play 2011's Big Day Out in Australia/New Zealand

According to Tonedeaf.com, Stone Temple Pilots will play the 2011 edition of Big Day Out in Australia. Soundgarden and Kings of Leon were announced as headliners today, with STP opening for Soundgarden.

The Big Day Out Festival is held annually in Australia and New Zealand. In 2010 the festival travelled through Auckland, Gold Coast, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth. There is no information about next year's festival on the official site yet.

Stone Temple Pilots have never played shows in Australia or New Zealand before.

I really really hope SG and STP play together somewhere in the mid-atlantic area....that would be beyond a dream come true for me to see them back to back in concert.... anyhow, for the sake of you Aussies, I hope it's true and you get to go experience it.

is there more to the lineup than those 3? I could care less about KoL

You guys aren't taking into account that they're playing Australia...Soundgarden is probably more popular there than STP.

ah...no! soundgarden plays for 2 plus hours while stp plays for what 70-80 minutes max.  there u have it. until stp puts on the shows that deserve the headliner tag....they don't deserve to close shows with bands like alice in chains and soundgarden on the bill.

Yeah it would be the same in Europe, stp aren't nearly as well known as soundgarden. At least all you Aussie fans are gonna be able to see 2 great bands at the same show, hopefully it somewhat makes up for the fact that stp have never been there. For me, seeing soundgarden and stp would be pretty much the best gig i could hope to see.
