The band has final say -  Atlantic can't very well FORCE these men to get together and perform...
How could they not notice it?! Because it's a little mint.  It's a Junior Mint!

so why did deleos pull the plugg then
Kind of hard to have a successful band when your lead singer's always fucked up on drugs, don't you think?

Plus, after more than 10 years of putting up with his shit, I'm sure they simply got sick of it.

The breakup of Stone Temple Pilots was inevitable - it's not like no one saw it coming.
A lot of people are going to slam me for saying this but when you compare the overall quality of the last two albums with that of the first three, well I'm not going to say it.  They had some of their best songs on the last two albums but also most of their worst songs.  I know a lot of people disagree but that's just my opinion.
Oh yeah, that looks much sexier on you.

I understand what you're saying - and I kind of agree.

Whild Shangri-LA DEE DA is far from being my favorite album, I think it's possibly their best work.  The way everything fits together, but goes from one extreme (something like "Coma") to the other (say, "A Song for Sleeping").  It shows their variety - and Weiland's lyrics are gorgeous.

Just my opinion.   :D

Well...

I don't think it's as if the Eric just happens to have a bunch of unreleased Stone Temple Pilots material just sitting in his livingroom or anything like that.

Putting together a record is a royal pain in the ass, requires some dough, a lot of time, and a record lable.  Last time I checked, Stone Temple Pilots is no longer a band.

Seriously, dog - go on Kazaa, type in "Stone Temple Pilots" and hit enter.  You'll get all kinds of stuff.
