In YOUR opinion, what are the "Filler" songs on this album?

I love this new album.....and its obvious a ton of others on here do as well. In fact, It just hit me, that in almost every individual songs thread, people are begging for it to be the next single. Its almost as if there are no filler songs on this album! If any, what are the ones you think are "filler songs"?


For me, its probably bagman and peacoat so far. I think Peacoat will grow on me over time though.

That's the great thing about this album-- so many styles are present, there's something sure to please every type of STP fan.

Personally, I think "Peacoat" is vintage STP; one of their best songs since Purple. It's killer.

For me, the only thing approaching "filler" would be "Dare if You Dare." It just doesn't do anything for me.

The songs I do not like are "Between the Lines," "First Kiss on Mars," "Bagman," and "Fast as I Can." That being said I respect all of these songs musically except for Bagman, which I believe to be totally filler.

Peacoat on the other hand is CLASSIC STP. My 2nd favorite after Take a Load Off

First song that came to mind was Peacoat, even though I love it. To me it just has that "filler" quality. Don't get me wrong though, even STP filler is better than most of what's out there.

2 definitions...

If you mean songs that likely won't ever be singles - I'd say Maver, Dare If You Dare.

If you mean songs I could do without, I'd say Hickory Dichotomy.

I think of filler as a half-assed song that was written simply for the purpose to fill out the album between singles. In that regard, I don't believe S/T has a single half-assed track on it. Every song came from the heart. So I can't say I believe there is any filler.

That being said, Bagman seems a little misplaced in the album. I don't know if it's because of it's placement in the album, or if that's because I don't like it as much as the others. But it's deffinitely not half-assed.

Agreed, its got a very purple-ish vibe to it, and It really sticks out in the album. It just hasnt really flowed for me lately, the way the chorus kind of just drags along for a while. I think over time it will really start to grow on me however.


And I LOVE dare if you dare...the way it turns from like a Purple tune to a Shangri tune right over that bridge, It just gives me chills almost.

Goes to show that this album and its individual songs appeal to everyone in different ways.

"Filler" songs would have to be defined by the person listening to the record.

But if you were the guys making the record, what songs would be "filler" to them?
I'd dare anyone to walk up to the STP guys and ask them this question.  You
should also take into consideration how many songs they went through before
finding the ones chosen for this album.  Hopefully, the songs on the new
record are the cream-of-the-crop.

But I agree, some songs are better than others.  I just like some more than others.

Okay, I'm not a fan of Cinnamon either. I just cant get into it. But to suggest its a "Filler" song (A song on the album merely there to make it longer and take up space),  is nonsense. I dont like the song, but I can tell they put a LOT of effort into it. Same goes for Fast as I can. Maver is debatable, but still find a way to close out the album and end it on a nice note.

Fast As I can is a great tune ... and Maver, not my fav tune on STP but its still a strong song .. those two are officially not filler.

Say what you say about this album but it could be argued that is has less "filler" that any STP recording.
