The softer side of STP
« on: May 29, 2010, 11:19:52 AM »
I made a playlist of songs that show off STP's softer music, all the stuff found post-Tiny Music. I think it flows pretty good together. It would be a sweet setlist to see on their acoustic tour. I don't think they've done anything acoustic since getting back together. They should, I bet they could come up for some awesome arrangements for stuff we haven't heard.

"The softer side of STP playlist"

1. First Kiss On Mars
2. Black Again
3. You Can't Drive Me Away
4. Wonderful
5. About A Fool
6. Hello It's Late
7. I Got You
8. Samba Nova
9. A Song For Sleeping
10. Maver
11. Atlanta

I always felt a lot closer to their softer side than their "Rock" side.
For some reason, only ballads can stand the test of time for me.
The "rockers" are getting old very quickly.
"A Song For Sleeping", "Hello It's Late", "First Kiss On Mars" and "Maver" are my favorite STP songs ever.
Your list is great, but I'd replace "Black Again" with "And So I Know"
Can we really find
A lovely magic place we dream of?

Also, although it's on his solo album, I always felt Killing me Sweetly would have fit in just fine with and STP album

I'd add Lady Picture Show, the solo here deserves a spot on this list

I know that Pretty Penny was before Tiny music but it's definetly one of STP's softer songs.

The softer side of STP is one of the reasons I love this band so much, musically speaking, the arrangements of the songs, the bass lines, the melodies, the pianos and the guitar solos are just beatiful, it moves me a lot. They are great songwriters that's for sure!

Same here. Sweet. I got a new playlist to fall asleep to tonight. Thanks  :)
Dedicated. Disgusting. Disturbing.

I'm just sittin' on this merry-go-round, and the music is too loud..

I didn't even think of And So I Know, I was just looking at their later albums. Definitely a good choice.

I wouldn't do that. Black Again's one of my favorite songs of theirs.
