You know, this is looking more and more like another possible SLDD scenario. Egos typically run wild when album sales plummet and we all know that SW isn't 100%.

Time will tell, I suppose.

This album will top Shangri; it has to. Let's give Take a Load Off a chance and see how it impacts before we get hasty. Remember that Between the Lines was #1 for seven weeks and set a modern Billboard record. There sales weren't huge off the bat but with three or four solid singles they can sustain sales over a year which will translate into a sucessful commercial record. Here's to Take a Load Off. Cheers!!

Quote from: mmmm pork chops
It took a year for number 4 to go platinum and that was 11 years ago when the industry wasn't so messed up.
I kinda think that i it doesn't go platinum it will be no bad thing, sorta like an undiscovered gem to the same extent Shangr la dee da was

True. I just really really really hope this album hits Gold. I would hate for it to be the only album not recognized by the RIAA.

how do these cds leak so early?! drives me crazy def could have moved 75-100 in the first week if chumps had to ACTUALLY buy it. When I told my friends that they were coming out with a new cd they we're like I thought they were still broken up. On the bright side. In a few months I'm sure they will do the amazon deal which always helps.

In my opinion, the music business has come to a point where singles matter more. That's all audiences seem to want. They hear a song the like, they go to iTunes or Amazon or where ever and download it. They only buy the full album if they're a fan of the artist or band, not just the song.

Looks like it fell to #32 and moved under 4,000 copies this week.

Honestly, I never thought it would be this much of a struggle to sell 100,000 copies.   :'(

Hopefully TALO will boost sales.

that's why Scott has the right idea with STP doing things on their own.

Happy In Galoshes probably sold less and made him way more money.
Is this the LAST album for Atlantic?

That doesn't explain why Jack Johnson sold 250K first week out and however many Justin fucking Beiber sold.

bands don't make shit off of record sales...the whole formula is a joke today with just being able to buy single songs. I think only albums should be sold, not singles...imo.

I think thats why they move towards singles cause they would rather make a quick $ then put out a whole creative output for a album.

Bands make the most cash from concerts and merchandise sold nowadays...I think bands like STP know this.
STP: 08/22/10 - Cleveland, OH.
        08/28/10 - Pittsburgh, PA.

Maybe the album would sell better if the band actually played more songs from it during concerts. They're supposed to be supporting the album.

These numbers are only partial..  If you look at the top right corner, only 36% has been reported.  So, by the time 100% has been reported it should be around 10,000 sold for the week.

Ohhh thanks.  That would make more sense.  Sorry didn't see that.

I dunno, stoners and teenage girls are unpredictable demographic groups.

I really hope the upcoming tour setlist contains a lot of new stuff. Judging as objectively as I can, I believe this album can really reel in a lot of different demographics. It needs exposure.

Extend the setlist to 2 hours and play at least 6-7 songs from the new album- BTL, TALO, Huck C, Hick D, Cinamon, Fast as I Can, Maver. I'll keep dreaming.....
