125K if they are lucky. I haven't seen much marketing around the D.C area. I have heard BTL a few times when my radio was actually on in my car.

I think 100+ is high, but we will see. Maybe it won't even get released and that is why it hasn't leaked?

I think around 75-80k the first week...that's me being conservative.  I'm sure they will eventually get to 150-200k after touring and getting some more airplay.

There is a lot of hype for this album. I'm thinking around Velvet Revolver's Contraband. 256,000 I think it was? It's only 9.99 for the basic version..that has got to help things out.

That'd be a bomb if they sell that low.  Anything below 100,000 is bad imo, especially when you compare it to recent albums by The Smashing Pumpkins, Alice In Chains, and Pearl Jam all selling over 120,000 in their first week.  I know I've thrown out a lot of numbers but my honest guess is 140,000.  "Between The Lines" is a huge radio hit and this is their first new album in 9 years, it will do well.

All these people talking about a lack of marketing, AIC and the Pumpkins had similar marketing and both broke 120k.

STP Shows: 5/1/08, 6/24/08, 12/31/08, 7/1/09, 5/25/10, 6/5/10, 10/29/10, 9/22/12, 5/30/13, 9/1/13
Velvet Revolver Shows: 7/22/06, 9/15/07
Scott Weiland Shows: 12/14/08, 12/8/11

Just from the 4 songs on Amazon and the 30 second clips we can pretty much determine that this will be a MUCH better album than the Smashing Pumpkins and Pearl Jam's latest efforts, and Layne was the soul of AiC so in theory this album should totally outsell all of them.

It is all speculative. I think for those of us who are thinking more like 100K or so, would certainly hope for more.

I for one, think the marketing job behind this has been crap again. With this album cover alone, they could have utilized tons of grass roots/gorilla marketing campaigns. A lot of people still do not even know this band is together.

My wife would have no clue if it weren't for me, and she thinks what she has heard to this point is 'shit' in her words.

STP is in a unique situation, so we will see. As long as I see another album, I don't care what it sells. It doesn't matter.

excuse me if i don't make sense for being alittle drunk right now

anyway...

they'll probaby sell around 230,000 as a final number

PJ backspacer how much sold total? That with baseball endorsement and tv appearances

Alice in chains

tv appearances how much sold right now? iono probably not that mcuh

STP right around that number - 6 years of being active= loss of album sales

besides people these days like shit like justin beiber and lady gaga

Sometimes being drunk can bring out the best replies. I think what you are trying to say is extremely valid.

It has been quite some time since these guys have promoted a new album, and going overseas pretty fast is showing that they are wanting to tap into the 'abroad' market that so many smaller artists do these days. This 'festival' Scott keeps talking about is a myth until this album gets out there and heard by not only other bands, but other management companies and their reps.

I wish these guys well, but until I hear the rest of this album, I need to be blown away to start telling people about it.

I think the 9 year layoff will actually help them.  Now they can use the nostalgia factor to lure in old fans, especially the ones they may have lost in the mid to late 90's when Grunge died off and lost popularity.  Back in 2001 they'd just released a new album 2 years prior and had been losing some popularity and the 90's were too recent at that point for the nostalgia factor.

Pearl Jam are the most popular of the Grunge/early to mid 90's Alternative rock bands and they sold 190,000 first week for Backspacer.  They did have a very good marketing campaign with Target.  AIC were less popular than STP in the 90's and their lead singer is dead and they still sold 127,000 first week.  The reason why AIC were able to sell so many albums despite a dead singer is that "Check My Brain" was a massive rock radio hit.  "Between The Lines" is having the same amount of success right now and STP actually still have their lead singer.  That's why my prediction is 140,000, even though it could easily be closer to 130,000.  If this album sells less than AIC it should be considered a disappointment, mainly for the reasons I stated.
