Here is my interpretation of the lyrics:

Maver with her lucky bonnet
She used to paint her flowers on it
She keeps her memories on a turnstile
'Cause she's superstitious
She thought she'd be famous
And tell me if I'm wrong
But her picture should distract some playmen
Yeah maybe you'll be lucky enough
To hear her sing on Sunday
Oh Maver

Maver and her bonnet
Strings the flag upon it
Betting on the bonnet
Supposed to get easier
She's playing on the easy piece for her
Oh Maver

She was a true blue bird
A traveler
She left her home post for the West Coast
With a guitar and a bar of soap for 'ole San Francisco
And a foolhearted head hole
Well she landed in a flat with some fellas that were lucky to meet her
'Cause she can play the six-string better than
This much you can bet her
Oh
So Maver

Maver and her bonnet
Strings the flag upon it
Betting on the bonnet
Supposed to get easier
She's playing on the easy piece for her

How many nights did you make it without it?
Oh
How many lines on your face can take away your stone?
Oh

How many nights did you make it without it?
Oh
How many lines on your face can take away your stone?
Oh

Maver and her bonnet
Strings the flag upon it
Betting on the bonnet
Supposed to get easier
She's playing on the easy piece for her
She's playing on the easy piece for her
Oh Maver
Oh Maver
Oh Maver

I think I nailed most of it.

The people who don't like Maver are obvious Core fanboys. Go listen to Limp Bizkit or something equivalent.

Oh and this song definitely has a "happy" sound to it.  Whenever I listen to it I can't help but feel very sentimental and warm.  The vibe is phenomenal, and is such a great treat to hear.  STP hasn't written a song quite like it, and it just shows how wonderful the songwriting and chemistry is between the band members.  And Dean's solo is fantastic, the way he phrases every note is nothing short of special.

A great way to finish off a fantastic album.

Yes!  Definitely both songs have that warm sound to them.  Scott's voice really works well with that style

Maver is definitely my favorite song off the new album. I keep listening to it over and over. It's a great 'feel good' song. IMO it should be a single. But like someone else asked, what the hell does 'Maver' mean? I googled it and found nothing. Haha

i'm in love with this song
It is utterly beautiful and congrats to the guy who interpreted the lyrics, well done man.

It never ceases to amaze me how varied stp are.  they can go from heavy (down) to beautiful (maver) to downright amazing (trippin on hole).

Fantastic band and will love them forever for the joy they've brought into my life.

Robert said in an interview that "Maver" is a word that his son made up and they decided to use it as a song title.

I think I nailed most of it.

I think in the chorus it sounds like he's singing:

"Streets of life" Because that's what I hear in the backing vocals.

Also, great song!

Yeah, it was actually "streaks of life". Here are the official lyrics:

Maver with her lucky bonnet
She used to paint her flowers on it
She keeps her memories on a turnstile
'Cause she's superstitious
She thought she'd be famous
And tell me if I'm wrong
But I think she still just likes to play them
Yeah and maybe you'll be lucky enough
To hear her sing on Sunday
Oh Maver

Maver and her bonnet
Streaks of life upon it
Betting on the ponies
So things could get easier
Just praying on a easy peace for her
Oh Maver

She was a true blue blooded traveler
She left her home post for the West Coast
With a guitar and a bar of soap for 'ol San Francisco
And a fool hearted head of hope
Well she landed in a flat
With some fellas that were lucky to meet her
'Cause she could play the six-string better than
Those macho pendejos
Oh Maver

Maver and her bonnet
Streaks of life upon it
Betting on the ponies
So things could get easier
Just praying on a easy peace for her

How many nights did you make it without it?
Oh
How many lines on your face have paved your way in stone?
Oh

How many nights did you make it without it?
Oh
How many lines on your face have paved your way in stone?
Oh

Maver and her bonnet
Streaks of life upon it
Betting on the ponies
So things could get easier
Just praying on a easy peace for her
Just praying on a easy peace for her
Oh Maver
Oh Maver
Oh Maver

The songs are that much more enjoyable now that I have the official lyrics.

To me, this sounds like something the Black Crowes could have done on their last album or two...
