I love this song, the verses really do it for me.

Could it be 'let the proof be in the pudding sugar'? Thats what I originally thought anyway.

You are correct. Here's the official lyrics:

"Oh Mars I juxtapose
Swine flu Sally's
Neon nose grows
Like a life like Pinocchio

Everybody now is just trying to avoid it
Newsman Tom is trying to exploit it
I know a cure to stop the fear and a little rock'n'roll

Primitive minds during primitive times
But Dr. Lady Ritchie who won a
Nobel prize
with a putridish smile

What to do about third world nutrition
Can we dismantle our stupid vision
And get on with the show?

Dare, dare if you dare
Dare to be something
Dare to be real
Dare, dare to be more
Hope for the better
Dare to be real

It's hard to make amends
When you're sitting there on the fence
Let the proof be in the pudding sugar
Everybody wants to start a new religion
Please relax don't need a soul collision
There's a dusty rose where the promise of love used to be
Yea yea yea

Dare, dare if you dare
Dare to be something
Dare to be real
Dare, dare to be more
Hope for the better
Dare to be real

Dare if you dare
If you dare
If you dare
If you dare

My brother died and brought us together
I hope it lasts and lasts forever
What a hero he turned out to be
I wish he could just believe

Dare, dare if you dare
Dare to be something Dare to be real
Dare, dare to be more
Hope for the better Dare to be real

Dare if you dare
If you dare
If you dare
If you dare"
Have a coke and a smile and shut the fuck up.

Cool thanks for typing those up. I really think that in a lyrical sense this is one of the strongest on the album.

chorus is very interesting, but the melody with the low and high vocals gives it a unique feel. prob my least favorite of the first five but that isnt saying much cuz i'm digging the start of this album. looking forward to the next forty minutes or so as i finish up.

Great Track, probably in my top 3.  This is my favorite vocal performance from Scott on the entire album.

Great song, I like the verses but the chorus is my favorite part. Very different sounding hook for STP. The first time I heard the end where it slows down I got chills! Anybody else experience that?
My STP shows: 8/10/2008, 7/19/2009, 10/10/2009, 5/22/2010, 4/26/2011, 4/24/2015   Weiland solo: 1/29/2009, 11/29/2012, 3/13/2015    VR: 8/5/2007

I love the chord progression in the verses
Bm-A-G-Gb-G
E-D-C-A-G-F
The way the voice is produced and the piano on the left channel, definitely it has a Beatles vibe to it

Musically, I think it's kind of bland. Nothing really stands out. Vocally, I like it alot. Very John Lennon-ish as multiple people have mentioned. I still believe that this song would be SO MONEY if had some piano involved. It just doesn't seem complete.
Dedicated. Disgusting. Disturbing.

I'm just sittin' on this merry-go-round, and the music is too loud..

Love this song. Love the vibe and Beatlesque sound of it. And the chorus is fantastic.

There's electric piano/rhodes during the verses.

Im gonna go ahead and this track is the "lady picture show" of 2010. I love it, one of the best on the album for me.
STP: 08/22/10 - Cleveland, OH.
        08/28/10 - Pittsburgh, PA.
