Imagine hearing the entire new CD in concert...
« Reply #18 on: June 16, 2010, 04:48:04 AM »
Here's a fun one for ya...

Imagine that STP plays your favorite arena. But...the ONLY songs played are the ones from "Stone Temple Pilots". In what order should they be played to make for the best concert experience?

(you can cheat and count a non-live bonus track that came with your CD)

Mine:

Fast As I Can
Take A Load Off
Maver
Peacoat
Samba Nova
Dare If You Dare
Hickory Dichotomy
First Kiss On Mars
Cinnamon
Bagman
Hazy Daze
Huckleberry Crumble

Encore:
Between The Lines

If they were to play the whole thing I'd like to just hear it the way it is on the album.

I'm unoriginal.

x2

They put the album in that order for a reason. If there was a better way to organize the songs, then the CD wouldn't be arranged the way it is.

Also, they would have to do an encore of classic songs to fill out the set. No one wants a set that's shorter than an hour.

x3. but if they did it in a random order it would still be awesome

Honestly i think the way the album is arranged is stupidly. Bagman following Hazy Daze is just retarded...as is Cinnamon following Dare if You Dare.

I agree...the album track listing is the way to go.

I personally would like them to actually do stuff like that...play a whole album (I'm sure I'm not alone). For example if you have a 2 or 3 night stand in a specific city or region, spice things up and say, that night we are playing such and such album in its entirety.

Even if some songs were difficult to pull off, play a live rendition of it.

Was listening the cd yesterday and wanting to hearing all of the song in concert, the same concert.

The concert wouldnt have to be just the cd, the cd is just over 40 minutes long.

Id like to see them play all the songs from the cd and mix up some classics in there, maybe another 8 songs from there cataloge, thatd be great.

I'm pretty sure Green Day played their entire new album on the first part of the tour. Alongside old stuff of course.

I'd love to see all of STP live, and I'm among the crowd that would rather see it played in album sequence. It was awesome getting to see Aerosmith play almost all of "Toys In The Attic" live. And Rush is playing all of their "Moving Pictures" album on their upcoming tour.

So the concept of playing a full album in concert isn't that far fetched. But it can go one of two ways... Playing an older, 'classic' album in full (for STP I'd think "Core" or "Purple") or play the new one until you see too many blank faces in the crowd. Either way it's a risk, cause with Aerosmith, there were fans that loved it and fans that were just waiting for something like "Dude (Looks Like A Lady)" to be played.

Yeah, it's my favorite album by them and I caught the very first show on that tour in St. Louis. I was very disappointed when they didn't play "You See Me Crying," but was thankful I got the chance to see what I did since I knew the "playing the entire album" thing wouldn't last. Of course, I didn't expect the cancellation of the entire tour and all that drama (to that extent at least), but still knew they'd give in and go back to a more hits based setlist at some point in the tour.

Never would have guessed it's your favorite!
