Rob, you are amazing on bass. Easily in the elite 1%. People just hate STP because Nirvana, PJ, and SG's hit records all came out a year earlier and they're all from Seattle.

I'm a bit late to this one but I read the blog and I thought it was pretty funny. Obviously, the stuff about Rob was lame but I'm guessing he knew he'd get a reaction - thoughtful, considered blogs are usually ignored.  

I think the guy does know what he's talking about and he gets props from me for including John Taylor (who is grossly underrated in my book).

BUT... no Bernard Edwards in the Top 10? Can't respect that, no way.

Just seeing the title of this thread makes me sick to my stomach.  Robert has some really awesome bass parts and I'm sure he'll showcase his talents on the new album like Dean seems to be doing!

What gets me is the people who say that McCartney is only considered good because he was in the Beatles.  She's So Heavy is one of the coolest basslines ever.  You can hear a lot of his style in Robert's playing.

I've noticed that most people who don't like STP either aren't musicians, or are into metal.  A lot of guys I know who play or listen to metal hate anything slower that 220 bpm.  It wasn't until I went to music school and started learning more about music that I actually started to appreciate what they were doing.  And, being a bassist, how amazing Rob's basslines are.
