I put them on my droid and listened to them in album order to get a feel.  I think this is shaping up to be one hell of an album

STP are recording artists. They can do whatever the hell they want on record. Thank Sgt Peppers for opening the floodgates on heavy production/over production.

The song's beautiful, as is everything they've ever done as a band. I personally wouldn't care if they became a studio-only group for that matter.

I respect the opinions of those who feel it should be a little more simplified in terms of production but this is what you should expect from this masterful band.
There's a diference between good production and cheating in a studio, leave that to britney! It's a good songs  regardless but so far the only song where scott sounds like Scott ate bagman and the verses for HD and BTL. I'm liking this tune more than the others and It doesn't sound like anything else but STP to me.
If you only knew..

This song just murders everything else we've heard (in full) off the album so far. This is the STP I've waited 8 years for.

I just love this song.  It's a combination of Scott's Purple style vocals during the verses, his contemporary vocals during the chorus, and the DeLeo bros. style from Army of Anyone.  It's a natural progression of their styles.

Now I know what Army of Anyone song it reminds me of:

"I'm starting to believe it
the hardest thing's to see it
down in me
honestly
the hardest things to leave it"

Keep it coming.

After hearing this song, I don't think there was nearly enough raving about it leading up to this moment in time. Having this song sandwiched in the middle of Between the Lines and Huckleberry on the album is delicious as fuck!!! What a fucking jam this tune is!! It's like STP has come full circle on this song. WOW!!

Ok, after several listens I have to say that this one rivals BTL as the best track so far. What a classic STP tune. And, usually, singers sound worse as they get older, Weiland's range has gotten wider and at times during this song he sounds like he did on Purple.

The summer is saved.

Wow they picked right up were they left off. This album is going to be killer, so far it has exceeded all my expectations.

I've been searching everywhere for MP3 downloads of Take a Load Off and haven't found anything yet.

I agree with this, and that's a damn fine combo! I am LOVING this song!
